I'm applying for a job and a requirement is to write a treatment on your best and worst program

To apply, you need to email your CV with a covering letter explaining why you want to work for Tiger Aspect and in this position. You will also need to write a short critique (no more than 500 words) of what you believe to be the best and worst Entertainment programming and, if appropriate, make suggestions for how the productions could be improved.

So what do you guys think are your best and worst programs. If possible best and worst program of all time and best and worst of the past year.

For me, the best program of the past year could possibly Human planet; Although I'm not quite not sure where they draw the line between Entertainment and Factual.

Worst programs for me is more difficult to pick. But I would have to say one of the many reality shows would be right up there.

Best program would be Dexter. Worst program would be "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is" annoys me soooooo much as it is so fake and doesn't take into consideration the cost of fuel etc that the specialists have to travel in order to sell their antique.

I would imagine be critical and look at the programmes with an eye to being original in your criticisms so that your application stands out.

worst [insert any reality tv series] - the are just dull, uninteresting, do not force you to engage your brain

I'm sure I don't have to say this, but just in case, remember that they aren't interested in what TV programs you like or dislike, they're interested in your judgement on what a quality production should look like, and how you'd go about turning around a failing TV programme.

A good example for your worst programme might be something like Daybreak - something that should have worked (i.e. the Childs/Bleakly combination that worked very well on The One Show) but didn't. Then you have to justify why you think it's bad and suggest how you would improve it. Might be a good idea to select TV programmes in market segments in which TigerAspect compete.

I'd use Top Gear as an example for the worst. It used to be fantastic but the format is tired and the same features etc are rehashed on a regular basis.

I presume this is some kind of media role so what better than spending time saying how you would personally turn it around.

NO, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SAY THAT!12948!!!

Although, I feel the exact same. You just need to watch an older episode to see how funny they really were!

Lost.

Also, instead of 500 words do 2000.

Here is a plan

THE END

Also, Mythbusters

The show itself isnt that bad, except most of the "myths" the do are not myths IMO, they are things retarded people say?

Either way the problem with the show is the fact that every 20 or 25 seconds they explain what they are going to do and what they have done, shortly after that there is some footage of them standing around doing nothing, and then you are told again what they have done, what they are doing, and what they are going to do.

Thanks for the ideas and advice people. I do like the idea of using Top Gear as my worst program. I think I could write a fair treatment on that, however I'm worried that might be an obvious choice. I know, as scorza says they are not interested in my actual program choices, but I fear they could just see 'on another top gear - *bin*'

Best is University Challenge, without a doubt.
Worst is University Challenge when I don't know the answers.
Woooooah! That'll impress 'em!

Whatever you do, make sure you stand out. Why not try putting one of their top programs as your 'worst' choice? Make it clear you know they did it though! That will grab their attention. Is it a runners job?

It's made for an American audience. They tend to assume a short attention span over there.

It was good earlier on, but the science started to get lax a while back.

I'd not pass that application.

For starters, i'd put TG as my favourite most likely, it's just become fashionable to bash it on these forums.

Then i'd put something like BGT as my worst - simply because it's an excuse to roll the singers and dancers out for the other six months of the year that we don't have to put up with X-Factor being mentioned everywhere.

I have never purposefully tuned into big brother but I can completely understand it's appeal. People watching is fundementally interesting.
