Stress & Relaxation

Lot's of sunshine, exercise, krill oil, rooibos tea, little bit of coffee, and cutting processed carbs out of the diet. I eat tons of fruit for carbs now instead of bread, etc. and I have a much better mood and energy.

Shooting guns.
Sitting in the garden with my cat and a cold hofbrau.
Mowing the lawn with a cold hofbrau.
Hot bath.
Watching GOOD movies.
Naps.
Not watching TV, especially the NEWS.

Also listening to vedic hymns, tantras, tuvan throat singing, stuff like that.

The Akira soundtrack always relaxes me. Got dang sublime soundtrack.

The main 2 things I would say are exercise and keeping omega-3/omega-6 fat in balance.

There are a number of 'levelers in life' that help you 'balance out' your emotions and become more rounded and less aggitated.

One great leveler is exercise. Another on occasion is alcohol, which can be a great stress reliever longer after your regain sobreness.

However, by the far the most effective leveler is sex.

This.

I also find listening to music, watching a movie or going for a drive in the car a good way to reduce stress and clear my mind.

Not in London!! :p

I do like to go for a walk to clear my head. 30 mins no phone nothing, just my thoughts and my feet.

Music can soothe, but it has to be the correct type of music.

Running - though I find I have very short lived motivation for this when angry/stressed.

Driving - prob best for me,not so good for my license. Having to give 100% concentration to something that I enjoy makes me happy. Also you can apply music here to any level/type you want.

Keeping yourself active helps with stress. Prior to changing jobs I had one of the worst years of my life in 2010, stress and depression to the point of being on medication.

All better now and I find when something occurs watching a good movie, playing sport or doing enjoyable exercise helps.

So gym, music and pets appear to be the key.

Do 2 out of the 3 and no pets.
It's partly my job that stresses me out, don't seem to be making any progress, get frustrated with myself when I can't do something etc...

Also have quite a cynical view of the world, well I say quite I pretty much hate everything and its an awful mindset to be stuck in.

Think ill try going for the odd walk and maybe read a bit more in bed try and switch my mind off before I sleep.

Have you seen the doctor about this? There are some good (non addictive) medicines available for stress and depression.

I deal with work-related stress by having clear boundaries in my life - work is work and stays at work. As soon as I get in my car to leave work at the end of the day, I am nice and relaxed. Whatever demons work may have for me can wait for another day.

Took a long time to get to this mindset and to have the ability to "switch off". Some people say I appear super-cool or unflappable at work, or that I don't get stressed etc. Far from it, I am just capable of dealing with stress.

Does mean I maintain a clear distinction between "work" and "home". To the extent that I will rarely, if ever, socialise with my work colleagues.

Inappropriate for forums..

As for me, pull out Ipod do a quick playlist put on my wireless headphones on
put my SPD shoes on and then go for a cycling round, make it fast, with traffic it's even better! Come back and let the endorphins soothe you and it makes you level headed again and relaxed.
