***Official Shogun Total War 2 Thread***

What's so bad about it?

well firstly the graphics are awful it looks worse than empire at the moment it really needs AA
i know they will patch it in later but still....

the smaller text used in the game is blurry and hard to read at 1680x1050

and worst of all the campaign map stutters when i try to scroll

this is my biggest problem with the game as it makes it unplayable for me

i know a lot of my issues will probably be fixed in the future but i want to play right now dammit

:(

It may have been a lot cheaper for you to have tried this before buying it....

But...

1. You complained about the blurry text, which would have been no different in the demo...

2. Campaign map stuttering, again no different in the demo surely?

3. AA, force it through drivers?

These are all issues which you would have experienced pre-game release surely?

The graphics are much better and smoother - AA is coming in a patch.

Haven't had any issues myself, all maxed out too.

To call the graphics awful and proclaim that AA would make the difference, or that it needs AA in the first place to even look acceptable is ridiculous and you're spouting rubbish. The game looks fantastic, most agree.

Small text looks absolutely fine to me, try glasses?

You're having performance problems, after saying the demo played fine (people cry when there is no demo for games, yet claim they've been tricked when they encounter problems they didn't in a demo - can a developer win?), and this is a problem unique to you, or that very few people are having.

Then you claim that because of these 3 farcicle problems, CA have mugged you with a shoddy game.

Laughable.

shogun 2 water prob

Hey is anyone else having a problem with their naval battle because i don’t have any water in mine. It looks like flying boats shooting each other. Does anyone know how to fix it???? iv reinstalled it and its the same :/

The text is fine on mine too at the same resolution.

If you've tried to force any AA at all through control panels etc it anti aliases the text too, which I noticed went blurry when I was trying to get AA to work.

If you've set your Anti Aliasing in the graphics control panel to anything other than application controlled I noticed jerky movements on campaign map and weird annomolies so switched it back to application controlled

The lack of AA caused an initial "URGHH" when I first launched up the demo. I got used to it after a few days, but the patch can't come sooner!
Note: Im using a 460 GTX and can't force AA.

Performance in retail is a lot better than in demo, and I would say the game is quite GPU dependent, as my CPU usage doesn't get very high. On the other hand, there are times when both GPU and CPU usage is quite low. I'm still messsing around with the settings though.

The game is great though. Battles are faster paced: In M2TW you spent a lot of time waiting as the men at the back of units wouldn't actively try to run up and find an opponent; In ETW you were bored to death by the musket exchanges.

Campaign UI is more streamlined - you only have to select the town in order to upgrade the farms, docks, etc. And the changes to how everything works in general makes it simpler and more enjoyable.

Just bought the retail version, so i'll have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday till i get my hands on it.:mad:. Does it have a good tutorial? As i'm of noob standard:o

What was CA's reason for not including AA?

The reason AA dosent work in DX9 is due to a new rendering method, aka deferred shading. Deffered shading allows better lighting and effects, the trade off was no AA in DX9. There was an official dev post on release day (can't find it now) about the subject - AA will only work with DX10.1 and 11. The patch is due in a month. I have seen the DX11 screenshots and they look pretty impressive!
