IMO

they should have stayed away
yes, he is doing bad things to his people, but its going to be the backlash and the stuff that happens after. Plus once daffy is out of the picture its about the oil.

Because hes had it coming for a long time, plus i just dont like the look of him, he needs an ass whooping. And give his son one while we are at it, i dont like him much either.

You know, i dont what it is, i just cant bring myself to like terrorists.

We will just protect our legitimate interest in Libyan oil. ;)

Isn't that why we freed Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, as a sweetener to ensure we have first option on the oil.

Mark, I hope you haven't brought a spoon to a knife fight; we are arguing against the tinfoil hat brigade

Are the Libyans that are fighting the Gaddafi forces not terrorists, or are they freedom fighters?

@DiamondMark, if by terrorists you are referring to Lockerbie then it's an open secret that the Iranians carried out Lockerbie in revenge for the US shooting down of civilian airliner Iran Air 655.

I see, and all the years that ****whit Ghaddafi supplied the IRA, that was all lies too?

Tell me if im wrong, im quite happy to join your band wagon.

What about the west supplying training and munitions to the Mujahideen fighting Russia in Afghanistan?

The UK sells arms to all sorts of dodgy countries, is that OK, in fact we have sold military hardware to Libya.

Why does everyone on overclockers always assume that it's all about Oil? You are not giving out the orders so how do you magically know that it could not just be about helping out a country in need?

Shimples....

Oil reserves in Libya are the largest in Africa and the ninth largest in the world with 41.5 billion barrels (6.60×10^9 m3) as of 2007. Oil production was 1.8 million barrels per day (290×10^3 m3/d) as of 2006, giving Libya 63 years of reserves at current production rates if no new reserves were to be found. Libya is considered a highly attractive oil area due to its low cost of oil production (as low as $1 per barrel at some fields), and proximity to European markets. Libya would like to increase production from 1.8 Mbbl/d (290×10^3 m3/d) in 2006 to 3 Mbbl/d (480×10^3 m3/d) by 2010–13 but with existing oil fields undergoing a 7–8% decline rate, Libya's challenge is maintaining production at mature fields, while finding and developing new oil fields. Most of Libya remains unexplored as a result of past sanctions and disagreements with foreign oil companies.[1]

Cumulative production through 2009 was 27 Gbbl.[2] Given the stated number, this would be 65% of reserves.

But i dont give a **** how many of them get blown up, shopping in Harrods and copping it does worry me, you see?

Please tell me that's a joke.

Past
The Lockerbie Bombing
The murder of Yvonne Fletcher
The Berlin Discotheque bombing in 1986
Funding the IRA, ETA, and the PLO
The systematic murdering of Libyan dissidents around the world
The 1996 mass murder of 1200 Libyan prisoners

Present
Attacking his own people, being ultimately responsible for the deaths of thousands.

I'd like to also point out that the protests began peacefully. In the event that an insane dictator begins to attack his own people with anti-aircraft weapons, I think that they're damned well within their rights to take up arms.

It is easy to list various actions by the west that are comparable to what you have listed.

We are not the white knight that you think we are.
