ICC ODI World Cup 2011

So England has to play Sri Lanka instead of Australia? Tough break. You would have a chance at beating us. The chance to beat Sri Lanka is even slimmer (if you do have to face them, not sure how it pans out).

Check the teams for the 24/25/26/ and semis, shouldn't they be?

Quarter finals:

Pakistan v West Indies in Dhaka on 23 March
Australia v India in Ahmedabad on 24 March
New Zealand v South Africa in Dhaka on 25 March
Sri Lanka v England in Colombo on 26 March

Semi finals:

NZ/SA v SL/Eng in Colombo 29 March
Pak/WI v Aus/India in Mohali 30 March

Meh, those players wouldnt make the SA team anyway... just like Michael Cat ( English rugby) could never have made the SA rugby team...you lot can have our castaways :D (much more examples floating about.... to lazy to start thinking about the list)

Trott and Pietersen would go in any team.

Well Pieterson a few years ago would, current day Pieterson has been struggling with injuries and poor form, we only had him the team for this World cup because of his potential.

Trott on the other hand, He make take about 6 years to get going everytime he goes out to bat and may have some of the most ridiculous time wasting antics in creation, but he would slot into ANY 50 over or Test match team.
 
Kevin will come good, it's just a matter of (injury-free) time. I don't think he should be in the squad until he does get some form though, that's silly IMO.

You say Trott takes ages to get going, but it works! I think there is too much emphasis (or expectation perhaps? maybe as a result of 20/20) on getting runs right from the get go (depends on the circumstances, obviously) and people tend to forget the basics.

Yeah I'm not saying it doesn't work but because not all batsmen think like him it means while he is taking ages to get going the run rate is going down and the required run rate(If chasing) is going up which often makes other batsmen panic and play stupidly.

Yeah I think everybody would love to see Pieterson back at his best because although Trott can get runs, Pieterson just has that spark about his style of playing which makes him so much more of a threat.

EDIT: Trott generally plays in one mode and plays very steadily, whereas Pieterson can suddenly go from 5-6 runs an over to 10 or more an over and really make the bowler scared.

Well played today India although I am not convinced by them so far in this WC. Their top order batsmen have looked solid as always but everything else has been relatively weak. Sri Lanka look the more solid team overall and Aus I think will really fancy their chances. Should be a cracking game and I'd love Tendulkar to get his 100th 100 vs them, and send them crashing out. Especially because I want them to meet Pakistan in the semi final, that will be epic. :)

England are really up against it though vs SL, toughest game I think. Murali, Mendis and Malinga are more then a handful for any batting order, and with their general all round good fielding and batting, they will take some beating. England will have to be on their game in all departments, its now or never though. They have scraped through so a good performance by them is due.

Pakistan have the easiest draw really vs WI and cannot afford to mess up. Some good games coming up though, I should be able to watch them all.
 
My predictions for the quarter-finals!

Pakistan will beat Windies. India will beat Australia. South Africa will beat NZ. England will beat Sri Lanka.
