***Official Shogun Total War 2 Thread***

What wrong with using the pause and slow-mo option? Why do you want the enemy to walk slower across the map? I always put it on FF until the fight about to start.

pausing is actually cheating. You can pause the game plan your strategy while the ai cant do nothing its turned off while your cheating.

Greatly. It's not perfect, but certainly at it's very best so far!

I got the limited edition, can anyone else tell me where exactly the extra content is? I activated it on steam and it seemed to do an instant d/l, if any (I think I noticed a screen flicker lol) but I can't tell what extra I payed for? I don't see a 'ninja' clan anywhere and I don't know which of the random bits of armour was included :S

You should have got a leaflet in the box or been given an unlock code by steam if you bought it from there. You then go up to the games tab in steam, click activate steam product and then enter the code. This will unlock the extra content and give you access to the Ninja clan :) hope that helps.

In regards to the campaigns, are they all the same objective(takeover everything)? New to total war games and just scraped through the tutorials (think I had 3 groups of units that hadn't actually surrendered/fled at the end of the advanced land battle tutorial.)

Being able to pause the action and think about your decisions has always been a part of the Total War games. It's by no means cheating. If we could think as fast as the AI we wouldn't need to pause. You could say the AI is cheating for being able to calculate all of the possible permutations virtually instantly but with our ability to pause it all evens itself out.

Well said Kojak!

Is there a faster way of replenishing my units? I can only see the "This unit is replenishing 3 men per turn, it'll be at full strength in 13 turns". Not including merging units, of course.

Trololololol.

I see what your saying, but we can out think there ai. i and many other players never had to pause the game to think of strategy. Just look at the complaints about the previous games ai that there no very good. And then some talented modder comes along and improves it. But you still dont need to pause it.
It makes it more realistic aswell not pausing it, which a lot of people enjoy in the total war series.

You're the one who thinks an inherent game function to the TW series is 'cheating'. Your post about it was so ridiculous that I assumed you were trolling - it's one thing saying it isn't for realism purists, and another insisting that it is a cheat. Have another rolleyes  and keep your insults to yourself.

Sorry for calling you a moron....do you still love me.

Ok look at it this way, would you class pausing the game so you can work out your strategy an advantage, i would. Fair enough if you paused the game and it didnt stop the ai from thinking, then it would be fair.

Sorry for calling you names, im just a huge Total War fan, and just very critical when people try to cheat with it :)

Explain please, i might be right or wrong. Im kinda curious now to why it aint cheating.

I can see what you mean by saying its cheating, but it is infact a specific game mechanic designed to be taken advantage of/used.

Are you going to say its cheating because you have a camera flying in the air when that is historically inaccurate? Where do you draw the line?

Thats true, its probably a hard line to find between fun and realism.

*FACEPALM*

I should have checked for that!! Will have a look when I get home.
Cheers :)

I'm completely new to Total War, have been getting my butt whooped in the last two days by the AI on the campaign. Haven't actually done many proper battles yet as I'm trying to get my head around winning the turn based system first.

Must say it's one of the best freebies I got with a piece of hardware (came with my i5), in a long time. Much better than Far Cry 2. But guess that's personal preference.

But yeah, I've done a lot of auto resolving battles for now so that I can speed through the campaign slightly faster. Once I've completed the campaign on auto resolving I'll probably work towards be able to do the battles better as frankly at the moment I'm atrocious at it at the moment!

Co-op campaign with brother= awesome. Me and my brother have enjoyed playing together. We have about 10 provinces so far, but its been just a brilliant experience.

Its a little known fact that Chinese Laterns were first used for this with little boys/midgets tied to them to give an aerial view of the battlefield. First known MAVs...

ps3ud0

Try the tutorials, then youll be in pretty good stead for the whole game. That i5 is begging to be used in battles;):D

Funny you should mention midgets. My brother asked me why do the generals bodyguards have big balls on there back. I told them its a special ability you press a button and then these midgets jump out and charge the enemy.

Someone seriously needs to mod that to happen:D
