***Official Shogun Total War 2 Thread***

Man I suck balls at online. Keep getting face rolled. Am I being a nub, when I have my army in a nice formation etc and I tell them to move forward, they just scramble everywhere into one big mess and i get raped!

I've been following the TW Center forums and geez, these guys are seriously whiney.

I am mean and make sure most of my drop-in battles are against inferior armies :p - can be a good way to get used to human opponent tactics too.

Does anyone else find the online play remarkably buggy (especially the multiplayer menus and match making).

The game freeze 1/3 matches when "Opponent found. Arranging match" and you have to force quit with Ctrl-Alt-Delete

ARGH!!!

Fun when it works though

Ye the MP is really buggy and they know it. Their are releasing a patch soon

Man, I am so bad at the single player game :\ I build up an army, defeat one guy, then out of nowhere I get my ass kicked by a few more armies. Anyone got a good strategy to start off? Am i going at it too quickly? 1 big army as opposed to many smaller armies? moving out too fast? :\

These "whiners" seriously do more good to the game than the CA itself, at times. Their input and hours of testing are one of the few things that keep the series alive.

I'm talking about constructive criticism here, commoners are annoying as it stands, there is a fair share of modders who complain though.

Just defended an absolutely mental siege on hard :p

I can record the replay and put that up, wont be able to see the commands im issuing though other than what the troops are doing on screen.

OMG just attacked AWA 3 times with big army and got defeated 3 times. now we are at peace. Feels like a waste of my men :D

Just think of it as a drop in unit maintainence :)

Don't forget to merge your units though as maintainence is no longer based on how many troops are in each unit. 1 unit with 1 man will cost the same as if it had 150 men.

^ but if you merge them they will replenish to 1 full unit, rather than 2/3 etc. so as you'll have to recruit another unit to replace the ones you merged, and send it to your army, it's cheaper and more efficient to just let them replenish seperately.

A lot of the time it's cheaper to disband them. Generally speaking if u don't use a unit for around 7 turns it would have been cheaper to disband it and make a unit later.

Also when attacking a fort/castle unless you really outnumber the units you are probably better starving them out so they loose the big defensive bonus a castle gives.

If I have had a fight and have taken a lot of damage, I merge units and disband ones that will take longer to repair than to build new (unless I am under threat of imminent attack.

Just bear in mind that the A.I. will see that as a sign of weakness and declare war. Having half a stack standing army all the time usually wards that from happening (build a bunch of yari ashigarus and bows to make half a stack).

Having said that, if you got an economic powerhouse, you can easily field 2 full stack mixed army and still come out with a hefty profit.

Anyone had the TW campaign map bug where it scrolls permanently in one direction? Seems to happen to me (rarely) in every TW game!

Are there any islands in the campaign? I remember in Empire TW you could just take all the islands and no one would ever sail over...

Infinite money

There's the large western one that Shimazu starts on. I haven't seen a naval invasion on it yet and I control the whole thing.

I've been doing ok. I tried Hard battles and hard campaign - got DECIMATED on both so switched down to normal.

I'm abismal on MP though -_- Just can't get the knack. Too much Empire methinks lol.
But then again - I was always abismal in battle at Shogun 1 aswell!! Must be a link there somewhere haha

Hmm, I find H/H relatively easy in my campaign. We'll see how it goes, I've only just started really but the AI isn't too demanding.

Is it just me getting used to Stainless Steel on H/V.H.?
