***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

This is a very early example of Maximum Texture Fail!! Not looking promising is it!

This is from a little later in the same opening level & about the best looking scene I have encountered. (uncompressed 6.59MB bmp).

It looks ok, it's been made to look good even on low end graphics setups. It caters for all but forgets the small amount of people who want the best from there supercharged rigs..
Like I said it cost's less on the pc and plays like the xbox version which is fine for me...

Bug still exists if you have G35 headphones, game wont run

This was an issue in the demo too, but the game still ran just with no sound

Also i can see any servers or connecto to my own via IP ?

Edit : forget all of the above, the 1.1 patch hadn't installed correctly, i had to run launcher and re download it

Crytek have seen how Modern Warfare went down a storm on consoles and have essentially ported the Crysis storyline to the CoD format of storytelling.

This removes all the exploration, scale, and epicness of 'doing it your own way' that Crysis had.

You instead get just another FPS experience, with lots of scripted events to up the scale and pace, that plays more like a movie.

Personally I much prefer the Crysis/Warhead gameplay, and its a shame that Crytek have thrown that away to pander to the console market.

Crysis2 is basically Crysis, with everything that made it Crysis taken away. About all it has in common with the original games is the Nanosuit (which feels much more clunky and dumbed down now) and that theirs aliens in it.

Even the storyline doesn't seem to match up, as far as I can tell the ONLY person that makes it into the 2nd game from the first is Prophet, and he only sticks around long enough (like 30secs) to kill himself for no real apparent reason...

HOWEVER, that is not to say the game isn't fun, IT IS. But it just ISN'T Crysis. IT IS Call of Duty : Crysis Warfare.

If you like the CoD style of gameplay then you'll like Crysis2.

Even the MP is pretty much a direct copy of CoD gameplay with a Crysis skin.

Anywho, to sum up, if you want a good looking (though no where near Crysis level graphics) FPS, with lots of explosions, and you like CoD games, then go buy Crysis2. Just don't go buying it expecting a true sequel to the first games as you will be highly disappointed.

PS - I also want my Female suit voice back

Honeslty wtf am I playing? I've bitched abotut eh graphics but now I've coem to realise the mian fault is the gameplay itself. Also the AI. I've had enemeis spawn in on me mere feet from after passing a certain point. I've just walked past that car. There was nobody there 3 seconds ago....

Complete and utter BS. Also, using a silence weapon is pointless. I've had enemies detect me even though I shot someone on the other side of the road and from behind cover and from being cloaked. I've also tried to flank enemeis by goign underground only to be see via magical x-ray vision and then have them call in backup. Oh and no, I was nowhere near a manhole cover. I was underneath and surrounded by concrete.

Mine should be arriving today, but part of me is tempted to simply send it back and pick it up on 360, as it is sounding like something I would want to trade in after a play.

Whereas Crysis I have fired up many times, because I love the pacing, environment and the open nature of it.

I have thus far avoided getting caught up in discussions over this game and have tried to keep and open mind.

I don't mind that the game has gone to console, but I do question their decisions to take 2 steps back in some cases - DX9 only? Change nature of gameplay? respawning enemies??????

TBH, had I known how different a game it was to the originals I'd have picked it up on 360 instead.

Been playing for a while now. Its at best an average FPS on PC. The following all look much better not a bit but much better IMO:

AVP2010 DX11 + DX9
Metro 2033 DX11 + DX9
Lost Planet 2 DX11 + DX9
Kane & Lynch 2 (Crysis2 steals most of the same camera lense filter FX but does it worse)

Cannot see it getting anything other than a very mixed reception on PC. Gameplay as others have said is same old COD style boring run n gun. Suit Tactics mean nothing it appears to have little effect. Story is bland/generic/uninteresting.

For SP only you also need to be signed into mycrysis at all times not sure what happens when or if you drop a connection but you cannot even get into SP or the menu's without being signed in right now! (this is on top of the other DRM like TAGES & Steam if you bought from them!).

Its the letdown I thought it would be now I will play further to see how it turns out but already I am thinking of disabling voices & skipping all cutscenes (boring tedious low res console friendly FMV).

Might buy a 5870 and go tri-fire with all these crossfire issues just so i can disable my 5970 and let the 5870 do the job when it's necessary.

I can't seem to disable crossfire anymore with the 11.2 drivers.

for the love of Jesus, its not a port, please read the following article, describes how a 'port' is a game that is designed for one platform (i.e. consoles) and then its converted to run on another platform. Crysis II is not a port by any definition, it is a multi-platform game, designed from the start to be multi-platform.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porting

What an absolute load of tosh.

I work for a games developer and consoles always come first. Due to microsoft and Sony certification these have to be done far sooner than the pc version.

Started playing last night, didn't think its too bad to begin with. Graphics are obviously dulled down compared to #1 but still looks fairly pretty.

Maximum Epic Fail

:o:(

Had enough for now its a nice day outside ;)

This game is so meh its a bad joke. So many bland gfx so many areas where they literally flood the entire screen with bland light grey smoke to cover up their CBA attitude. Vehicle sections are generic the entire game is so far bland/generic just cannot see it changing much.

Its one I will not even bother playing anymore for now not feeling any reason to continue. Goes straight on my whatever/whenever pile for a rainy day

I had a strong feeling it would be all it has turned out to be was hoping rather naively for more but that was too much to ask unfortunately in 2011 for a PC game :( Even at a tenner I would not think it was up to much so if anyone is unsure wait a few months & save a few quid your not missing anything you sadly have not seen done much better before :(

It's rather interesting that Dragon Age 2 looks rather dull without an addition of a high-res texture pack, and that's from EA as well. I wonder if we'll see a high-res texture pack for Crysis 2.

this is tragic

cons

1.texures are sooo poor close up

2.AA is no where to be seen

3.no FPS command !!!!

4.no sli support only using one gpu

7. crysis is now dead and burried as a single player game .......

8. poor ai and cod like "GETT DOWN !" ..."MAN DOWN" BULL CRAP

wow.... really glad i decided to pass on this one in favour of AC Brotherhood....
will wait until they release the DX11 patch...

I really don't know what has happened. I was playign through Warhead the other day in preperation for this and the pacing, storytelling and AI were miles better than Crysis 2 so far. I mean ffs, why does my character not talk? Usually this does not bother me, Half Life and Halo have silent protagonists but after playign through Crysis 1 and Warhead, I'm used to my character speaking and actually engaging with the story rather than just breezing through shooting things. Also so far the story is... Lacking. I have no idea what is going on. From what i can gather, I was part of some special forces team sent in to extract some science boffin who works for some nanotech company that has its own PMC. Aleiuns are somehow invading yet the US army is nowhere to be seen and it seems to be isolated to Manhattan Island (honestly wtf!?) The already mentione PMC is fighting the aliens and hunting you down because they think you are Prophet and they want the suit you're wearing. I mean, when you're first introduced to the aliens (littlke scarab tbeetle things killing random civilians) your character doesn't even question it. Also, what's up with the random civillians? There's no way in America, civillians woulkd be left like that. Like I said, where the Hell is the US military!? It's like for some reaosn this entire event has been left to this pmc to deal with which just seems ridiculous...

Also sorry for my many misstypes. I've been writting a Uni dissertation and cbb typing properly at the moment, hence the super rapid keyboard strokes...
