***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

People just don't stop complaining do they? After all its only a demo and it states on the first page that everything will not be the same in the final release... Meaning things can change! It's to give the devs a chance to see what they have done wrong and hopfully for our sakes they do. You complained when crysis came out and it was too resource hungery and now you are complaining that it doesn't look good enough ? what the hell really comon... maby this is the reason PC developers are turning to consoles because they don't whine and moan about everything :(. I personaly hate consoles by the way...

It's a demo, not a beta. The finished game is already being shipped. Nothing is going to change.

The fact that they intend (or so they say) to patch in DX11 at a later date, is them squeezing that final bit of urine out.

Was going to hold off purchasing Shogun 2 to play this when it came out 10 days later, however, obvious port is obvious, and I've cancelled my pre-order and will be enjoying the likes of Shogun 2 instead :p

Default value is 10 which imo makes it too large.

It's set to 1 in the pics above but as stated you can set it from 1-10.

If you're happy with the default value then leave it as it is. Simples.

^

but the edges of a crosshair are supposed to show how widely your bullets will spread, if you change that value then it's giving you an incorrect value.

I used to select the smallest crosshair possible in Counterstrike, DOD and UT, too, which I could do via the games menu.

I guess it's largely psychological but I find if I aim small, I miss small.

Fairly sure changing the size in those games had no affect on the diameter of the inside points though, and I know in UT the crosshair didn't show spread at all - it was just simply a crosshair that you could enlarge or make smaller. Can't remember for the other games though.

Does it matter lol. Horses for courses and all that...

Well, yes it matters. The whole point of crosshairs that adjust according to player movment is to show how widely your shots can spread. If you change it, then its telling you that they will spread more/less than they will. I'm not someone who takes note of this information on screen generally, but if you're someone who does then it will matter for it to be correct.

lol Gerard is that your video? Props to you if it is. The unboxing thing on youtube is utterly utterly sad. I can't even put into words how sad such an act is.

I'll pick this up near the end of the year for a tenner, once I've finished having fun with shogun2/portal2/witcher2/shift2/ etc. etc.

Console ports come last for me :p

6.9 on metacritic. Don't know whether to believe it or not. Doesn't seem to have had the bombardment of trolls that DA2 had - has a realistic 137 ratings - so genuine score?

you know what its realy boring these kind of posts. Yea nice one for finding one un attractive area, I could take a screenshot of some amazing scenes but that wouldnt fit in to evreyones witch hunt would it?

You don't think laying that texture on the floor is just plain lazy?

It's not all about graphics the original may have looked the dogs but the game was terrible to play same with warhead looked nice but not great to play.

Irritates me how some people state, "the original gameplay was terrible", as if it's fact. Whilst lots of people actually enjoyed the first two games gameplay a great deal, it's just that you (the person stating it) didn't - doesn't mean everyone found it terrible. Personally Crysis was one of the most interesting and enjoyable SP FPS games I've played - graphics aside.

I'm getting really irritated with fanboys and trolls on metacritic. You have people rating 10, then listing a whole bunch of things bad about the game, but state they're giving it a 10 because PC elitists are whining.
Then you have people rating it 0-2, and going on to say gameplay is okay, but because it's a console focused game and only has dx9 they're going to give it a 0. You click on these peoples usernames, and low and behold, half of them have also rated DAII a 0 with that and crysis being the only two games they've rated, or having not rated any other games at all.

Idiots on both sides can't see they're ruining what has previously been a reliable resource for user reviews, and so for other people trying to determine if a game really is worth it, is becoming an impossible task.

so can people who haven't played it yet get a verdict from those who have, on what price-point this game is worth purchasing at? and perhaps a score out of 10?

Is the 6.9 on metacritic relatively accurate?

Are you referring to a specific review that gave it 6.9? It's currently averaging 88 for the pc version and 87 for the consoles. The lowest single review score I can see is 70 (aside from the user reviews putting the scale to good use and giving the game 0's and 10's).

Referring to user score average. Professional reviews aren't even worth looking at, so that 88 means nothing to me.

so better trust random internet trolls instead...

Every game I've played and rated, my rating has been within 1 whole figure of the average user score on metacritic - so generally the 'trolls' are accurate - but if you want to trust the pros who get nice handouts under the table for advertising etc. then be my guest.
