Being gay is curable

So serotonin gives you a feeling of gaiety, and and a lack of serotonin makes you feel a completely different type of gay.

The homophobia in this forum is pretty astounding. :(

Homophobia? Where?
A few of the forums gay members are posting in this thread without any issues?

Mr Jack, never said it was human related.

Back on topic:
Could it be argued that mice are non preferential to either sex without the addition of serotonin. So it's the addition of it that makes them hetro rather than bi?

There are not enough facts so you can argue any way you want and it will be meaningless. ;)

Will a gay cat want to catch gay mice? :p:D

(answers on a piece of cheese please)

My gayness is my own choice not my minds! Oh wait!

What's gay? A guy who like man or a guy who like to have sex with anybody (male/female) ;p
Bi-sexual people, are they gay?

I think this raises an interesting question. If they proved conclusivly that being gay was a "curable" condition and could turn people straight with a simple pill or injection, do you think a lot of gay people would opt to take it in order to fit in with the majority?

And how long would it be before somebody high up decided being gay was an illness that had to be stamped out and started forcing people to take the cure. Or even turning it into a vaccine and giving it to newborn babies to make sure they grow up straight.

Kinda makes me think of the book The Forever War, only in reverse.

Nope, I suspect most gay people would not want the cure.

Probably not long, but it's a dangerous game to start playing, for the reason I gave above. Things like being gay are different to other potentially curable-at-birth problems in that it's very easy to live a very happy and fulfilling life while being gay. However, that cannot be so easily said about debilitating genetic diseases or serious birth defects.

Society can learn to accept homosexuality as normal and pretty much all the negative aspects of being gay would be extinguished. However, no matter how much society learns to treat disabled or ill or diseased people normally, these people will always suffer from the detrimental effects of their condition and so quality of life is impacted. I suspect many of these people would give anything to be 'cured'.
