***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Still tempted to buy this for a multiplayer shooter online as i'm a bit burnt of bc2.
Looks like i'll wait till its on the cheap though.

Wow. Now I wish I didn't get this. Question: Can I still get a refund from Steam even tho I have downloaded most of the game? I stopped it last night as it was getting late and I had to get some sleep. As I said, the game hasn't fully downloaded and I have not played it yet.

I only played it for about 30 mins but let me tell you...

I loved it! I'm not normally a fan of one player games but I was loving this. The sound I thought was wicked with my new sound card. Graphics seemed ok, not the greatest but I was happy to play like it. At least I had no FPS drops.

Really enjoying this game.

Played this today and I like it, the graphics are not ground breaking but they still look pretty.

By looking at some of the comments in this threat too many people are moaning its Crysis and not what they expected it to be. If this game wasn't called Crysis 2 or this was the first Crysis game in the series, I bet many peoples opinions would have been more positive.

So what if the game has been dummed down to suit consoles. For EA and Crytek its about developing a game for the mass market, reaching out to as many people as possible and maximize profit.

When Crysis 1 first came out, the amount of PC gamers who moaned about their multiple GPU, multiple CPU cores, stupidly overclocked couldn't run Crysis 1 maxed out, despite Crytek warning the PC community weeks in advance that no computer at the time couldn't so don't expect to. Now Crysis 2 is out still PC gamers are still not happy!! "oh, it doesn't look good as Crysis 1 because the developers focused on the consoles more"

I'm not surprised the developers did after the mount of PC gamers moaned about Crysis 1 and its performance. If you don't like it then tough, get used it and be grateful that Crysis 2 actually did come out for the PC and wasn't a console exclusive.

This time Crytek have made a game that looks and plays well on mainstream rigs.
I can understand that this comes as an dissapointment to true hardcore gamers who invested serious money for their bragging rights.

But to survive in this business you can't develop a triple A game for a minority or even PC only these days.

Still this game looks and plays way better than some of the recent COD abominations due to the sandbox environment allowing for great variety in gameplay style. Whether you prefer to play brutal or sneaky it's up to you. I like this much more than making my way through scripted corridors without any replay value.

Despite being a fan of more openworld shooters like Crysis 1, Mafia, JC2 or FC2 I have to say this is nevertheless much better than I exspected from the chosen setting as a city shooter.

The game is getting very good scores around the internet not without reason, so I would advise anyone, who has the slightest interest in good FPS games, not to listen to the very vocal naysayers in the first place.

Even the MP has some refreshing elements, so it can keep me entertained for quite a while.

The gameplay is ok but the graphics aren't. I am not going to accept that they are not great, no matter what anyone says. It could have been a lot more. If I wanted a console, I would buy one. In fact, I spent more on one TFT monitor than it costs for an XBOX.

Well you guys certainly make great points. I remember when Crysis first came out and the uproar about people being unable to play the game was understandable. But here we are Crysis 2 is out and yeah again, people are not happy.

I think I will keep it, play it and see it what it's like for own taste. :)

Played a couple of hours, enjoying it so far.

Nanosuit feels better than the first, and the "CoD linearity" is only there to get you from A to B - it's not as if the mindless wandering through dead jungle / beaches in the first game is a big loss. I enjoyed the free roam aspect of the first one for about 10 minutes before I just wanted to get on with shooting people. The firefights here seem to purposely be put in open areas where you can take a sandbox approach, and in a game that's all about the firefights, I don't really think there's much to complain about. This game certainly isn't anywhere near to being "on rails" like CoD, MoH, BFBC2 - talk about people overreacting. It seems impossible to get a level-headed opinion these days.

Also, it looks great if you ask me. Running extreme 1920x1080 without any trouble, and my rig isn't hardcore or anything. There is no way a console could make the game look this good.

I've got to agree with some of the others here, you moaned when Crysis kicked your PCs ass the first time round, now you moan because they have given you a game that you can play on a mainstream PC.

What do you want exactly?
Sometimes the Internet just seems to be a meeting place for people with bipolar dissorder.

Thats a fair assessment of it I think! I've been having a blast this morning and I've quite enjoyed it so far..

Although it doesn't look as good as Crysis, it still looks good and I can run it maxed out on my PC.

CoD etc were all basically one long corridor for you to walk down and shoot people and they bored the hell out of me, I didn't even finish the latest CoD. The fights I've had in this have been in larger open areas with various places for me to climb on, shoot down from, hide behind etc, just makes it seem a bit more fun.

The only gripe I have is that they didn't really explain what was going on as Whackeygrunt said!

I do agree, people complained about Crysis, though it was MOSTLY the people who just didn't get that it was so awesome looking at top settings a current top end rig wasn't supposed to be able to play it. Too many people DID complain and I'm not surprised they finally gave up going ultra hardcore, though frankly I still don't doubt if the whole team was working on a PC only game they would have done MUCH better.

But this is the problem, graphically its pap and gameplay wise its even worse. I don't care if a game doesn't look great if the gameplay is amazing, and a rather dull FPS with ultra amazing, next generation, industry changing graphics is better than a rubbish FPS with rubbish graphics, at least they put their time into SOMETHING in Crysis, here its just an incredibly average game in every area, so why they heck isn't it better, so many people working on a game, and the quality of previous games, its just lacking overall and at a distinctly lower level than Farcry or Crysis.

However those talking up how fantastic Crysis gameplay was, lol, having a complete laugh, it was a VERY average game in terms of gameplay, stupid story, not fantastically well writen, not even close, aliens weren't really remotely fun to fight. While you could pick up people and throw them into a building I don't think I did it a single time in the game, why, whats the point, its too boring and slow to stealth up, find a place to get energy back switch to ultra strength pick up a guy throw him, under fire change to armour and shoot people. Gun, shoot, everyone dead, bit lame, move on, I never felt the game "push" me to explore, or the requirement to. Yes it felt less boxed in, by a mile, and yes I could get from one small camp to another any way I wanted, and yes I sometimes strength jumped up an ackward cliff to surprise a group of guys, but it was FAR from a brilliant playing experience, just the visual side dragged the overall quality of the game up quite a bit. IE 6 gameplay, 10 graphics, 8 overall.

This is a 6 graphics(compare to stuff other games are doing and from vids of BF3, this is already a generation behind, several when you consider some of the textures) and a 6 gameplay, 6 overall so far.

What a steaming plie the mp is.

1. Requires me to input my cd-key everytime i want to play mp:mad:
