Strobe light recommendations

Hi all,

I've a work colleague who is film her second film (lol) and she requires a strobe light.

Can anyone recommend a bright strobe light, preferably torch based that doesn't cost the earth?

How fast flash rate? I acquired a divers strobe light that flashes about every 2 seconds, about £60 to buy and if in view of a camera I think it would be fairly bright.

It's also not a hand held.

Company I work for hires them out £24p/w
Is hire an option?

If it's for an actuall succesfull strob effect (like the robotic jerky movement that everybody does) then a high powered plug-in would be the best it.

I've emailed her and asked exactly what the scene is and what size so hopefully I can narrow it down.

Amazon do mini led strobe lights for like £7, but they might be a bit weak.

Without knowing the size of the scene it is impossible to recommend a suitable strobe.

A fast strobe is typically around 12 pulses of light per second, a torch in strobe mode will not be able to match that kind of speed.

200 lumens with strobe for £40?

Seen ones from the USA, around $178 dollars for a 160 lumen one that fits under a pistol.
