Nope, the AI seems to be pretty ruthless with its naval fleets on hard, so trying to upkeep one stack (let alone any more than one) just seems like a waste of income. Not only do you have to upkeep the fleet, but also the trade ships and I think the money is just better spent on upgrading all farms/sake dens/markets etc. and then making sure you have the best combination of buildings on each province for recruiting high stat troops.
Depends really. As Shimazu, you're close to 4 different trade ports from the begining. I'm playing on Hard, and pretty much rule the seas as eastern/northern as my provinces go. (In fact the income you get from them makes the game significantly easier)

If you play as Date on the other hand, there's no way you'll be able to afford a fleet to steamroll all the way down to the south/west to get that trade.

That's true. I own 29 provinces and still only have the trade post next to the Date starting province close to me, so it's not worth it. If you're playing as shimazu where you're close to a bunch, then maybe a naval fleet is more worth the upkeep cost.

Okay, I'm calling for screenshots! Campaign maps / lush landscapes / masseeeev armies / hyyuuge battles - I wana see some! :p

I thought it was about a 17GB download,

Actually just double checked and yeah common folder is 15.9GB, I'd recommend overnighting it ;p

But trading ports are definitely more optimisable from the 'island' provinces, also I might be wrong, but it seems to me that the AI is unwilling to really transport combat troops across the seas... This may change when you up the difficulty, may be wrong? Someone feel like updating me on this?

For Nvidia owners who want AA :) Someone actually figured out the solution... over a week ago.

Unfortunately has a few problems, like water not showing up, bow range indicator not showing up. So you'll have to decide for yourself whether it's worth it or not. The game definitely looks much cleaner and nicer with it on :)

No, my cousin had a few naval invasions after the realm divide happened. And a few others + reviewers have said that it's happened to them too.

Started again as Chosokabe on Hard (Camp/Battle) to replace my bugged Shimazu Campaign (End turn CTD :() Actually really enjoying it, the difficulty is challenging and has forced me to expand rather than my usual tactic of turtling.

Epic battle to capture a province from Sogo:

Miyoshi didn't take too kindly to an attack on their ally and retaliated but I sent them packing:

Is there a way to train existing units with the bonuses from higher ranking buildings like extra armour or better weapons?

I had a load of Bow Samurai that had been my best mates for years of campaigning and an improved archery building that would have given them extra accuracy. Don't want to destroy them just to remake new ones to take advantage of the accuracy bonus.

Im playing the Chokasabe campaign, and only own 3 castles (7 provinces i think). I highly doubt i will meet the campaigns time limit requirement, what happens if i don't?

Also i only make 1200gold per turn in income, any ways to increase this?

Are the units easy to get namewise?

Im playing RTW and the demo of this but find it really hard to figure out what unit does what.
I know it shows a picture at the bottom of each unit card to its type just the names throws me off.

Very easy, the unit cards are pretty self explanatory, I'm sure with a bit of practice you'd pick it up.

Well finished my campaign with Chokasabe.
Didnt really win as I got lazy.
Finished in year 1600 with 26 provinces (40 required to win).
Realm divide in 1589, just after I became Shogun.

could have easily steam rolled the last remaining provinces but I couldn't be bothered so near to the end.

Going to start again as someone else.
