March in London on the 26th?

Sorry you deleted it, I read it before you did, and it is a shame people couldn't read it. I have a friend who works in the public sector who has told me a similar tale.

Yeah sorry, It was the truth and I stand by it however its possible people from my dept read these forums so not worth the risk for the sake of making a point.

yes, yes, yes but, the rub is this.

yes we have to have cuts, but we also need to face up to facts as a nation.

if we end up with a large number of unemployed and not much economic growth, plus a shed load of inflation, our debt is going to spiral out of control anyway, the only solution is to significantly reduce our cost of living.

Now how do you do that?

Well food.. no going up
energy.. no going up
taxes... no, they have to go up.

ok wise guy what do we do

George Osbourne knows exactly what we have to do, invent stuff, make stuff and sell it abroad, he said as much in his budget speech.
The only way we can do this is to reduce wages and stop spending money on houses and other useless assets. Oh we also need to import a lot fewer German cars.

But the coalition are desperately propping up the housing market and the banks that ride the merry go round.

The collapse is inevitable it's just a case of when.

Labour might at least get us to the bail out and hence real recovery more quickly. Not by intention though.
All Labour would do, is keep the illusion going that things are okay, for a bit longer.

Eventually, reality intrudes.

I agree that things are bad. They are really, really bad. Nobody really wants to talk about it. You can understand why. The reality of our situation as a country is horrible. It is easier to ignore it or pretend it isn't that bad. I understand that. But we can't pretend things are okay, forever. Why? Because our debt goes up by three billion pounds a week :) And the interest payments on the massive debt we owe, goes up as well.

Ultimately we need to live within our means. This WILL mean cutting spending. Yes services will reduce, people working in the public sector will lose their jobs. This cannot be avoided. Labour and the unions would have us believe it can be avoided, or that maybe we can simply put up taxes on 'the rich'. No, they already pay a ton more than the rest of us do, pro rata. Labour tried a punitive tax on the 'rich', in the 1970s. It didn't work then. It won't work now.

Labour are so weak now. They won't be getting in power for decades. That video of Mad Ed is just hilarious. He pauses for applause that never really arrives :D

Rubber bullets aren't toys. A shot to the head will kill someone.

It should hopefully have the desired effect as a deterrent and everyone will stay at home then. Rather that, than smashing up London and causing trouble because they are thugs with nothing better to do and/or foolish people whose idealistic dreams cannot and will not ever be realised no matter how much they whine and throw their toys out of the pram.

Life'll kill ya.

If you know police are standing by with rubber bullets, which are commonly used in mass riots the world over, and you're worried about kicking the bucket if you get hit, then maybe retarded anarchist marchers will think twice.

I know that hitting a tight bend in my motor at 60mph could likely result in my crashing and dying, hence I do not do it. Same principle. The only reason people go on these violent demos is because they know there is a decent chance of getting away with it.

Would love for the Police to beat the living s*** out of those anarchists. Why are some not being arrested for blatant vandalism?

Ironic in a true anarchist state they'd be mowed down by the banks hired police force.

Oddly international politics is the last bastion of anarchy where law is secondary to ability, yet this is the one place the "anarchists" moan about constantly breaking the law.

Was it worth it?

If super doesn't make it back, definitely.

It was amazing. The wide range of people there made it so fantastic. I was talking and walking along side Firemen, Police, Nurses, Professors, Teachers and some pretty funny (if odd) hippies. A great atmosphere, really felt like a carnival for the most part.

All that changed when we hit trouble. I can't explain in words just how annoyed I am with what those few decided to do, to in part ruin it for the majority of us. I and the people I was with ended up running away from what I can only describe as a mob, who were attempting to ruin whatever they saw. They took on the Police (attacking them from behind) and it was just mind blowing. The main bulk of the march moved away and carried on and left them to ruin some big place? I remember it being near the ritz.

Never made it to Hyde Park. I managed to escape the trouble after a few mad dashes, and then we went to get on to the underground and I got, take the **** out by the doors on the underground. They hurt.

Anyway, all in all, brilliant, would do it again, I'll stand up for what I believe in, I won't just sit behind a PC and complain. It's just a shame that the minority who caused that one bit of trouble, ruined it for the mass, it won't be remembered as being a peaceful march. Shame.
