Earth Hour 2011 TONIGHT 20:30

Why should i turn me lights off (except for saving a tiny bit of money?)

Man Made global warming or 'climate change' is a myth after all

I guess my alterior motive here is im in to astronomy... so its nice for all the lights to go out at once LOL. Shame the Council's dont turn off all the street lights for an hour too :D

Well I guess I'm the only person who actually likes this idea.

I think some of you are missing the point, also I think its great when the world comes together like this, makes us feel connected. And I think this movement shows great human spirit.

Brilliant idea, thanks for the post and the video! I turned my lights and PC off for one hour tonight.

It shows great human gullibility and embracing of a pointless gesture to make people feel good while doing no good at all.

I think it's worse than useless. I think it's actually counter-productive due to the people who might otherwise have done something useful instead but now have their warm fuzzy feelings stroked by feeling connected and feeling that they've done something good.

It might be more directly counter-productive when you take into account the energy used in promoting, organising and filming it plus the energy used by people doing other things in the dark, e.g. watching TV.

But hey, I'm just one of the horrible people who didn't "save" 36 whole watts by turning off a couple of lights for an hour while using 100W to look at the TV to watch people using many KWs to promote me saving 36W. What would I know?
