So what foods do you go out of your way to deliberately avoid?

I think mushrooms are now the only thing I just can't stand. Them and organs, especially lung/liver, but that's not an issue I have day to day :p

To the OP.

You posted a short list of things you avoid. What about the things you actively eat? I am looking forward to your response because i am sure that for anything you list, we can find a 'is bad because', thus proving you a gargantuan hypocrite and potential troll.

I actively eat a lot of chicken.

Your move :p

There are clearly some foods that are less suited to some lifestyles and goals than others.

I came on this thread thinking it would be full of people telling us about their hilarious food phobias... Instead the OP is being a food nazi :(

I avoid fine milled porridge like the plague, one mouthful makes me retch. Old fashioned 'Scotch porage' for me xD

Raw apples. My allergic reaction to them has been getting steadily worse. I don't touch 'em now. It started at the same time as my early season hay fever came on the seen.

Turkey tends to gives me spectacular wind, but this is no reason for me not to eat it! :D

Other items on my ignore list include...

Fish
Cauliflower
Butter Beans
and Purple Mush aka. Beetroot.

But that's just a taste thing.

I don't think anyone said those things are a health risk, but if you want the best from your body you should treat it properly. Simple carbs aren't good.

The irony in your post is that fat isn't going to kill you, unless you drown in it.

It wasn't a very serious post to be honest..
I was more or less replying to the OP:

what things do you deliberately steer away from? Not because you don't like them but because they are bad for you!
Me?
Fizzy drinks
Crisps
White bread
White rice
Potatoes

Obviously living off simple carbs or whatever isn't healthy, but actively avoiding such foods as white bread/potatoes is just silly, IMO.

As has been mentioned many times, my opinion is that all foods are fine, as long as you use moderation on the less healthy things.

kebabs from kebab shops on a night out (well, meat in general tbh). Mainly because I dont want food poisoning. Thats about it, and even then I sometimes eat fast food meat too :p.

Its not what you eat, but how much you eat thats usually the problem ;)

I hate white egg with a passion - just the taste or feel of it makes me want to be sick

Silly in what way? white bread constitutes empty calories, it's refined to the point where anything the body can utilise is removed, refined sugars and grains just put a toxic load on the body, nothing silly about wanting to avoid this.

Cakes, chocolates, crisps, fizzy drinks, pasties, pizzas, anything from the chip shop, fast food, processed food, food with loads of additives/colourings etc

I eat a lot of lean meats/fish/fresh vegetables/fruits, my diet has been like this for about 6 months now, aswell as being actively doing free weights and cardio, my health has increased a lot and I feel a lot better!

Just found out my best mate is a fussy eater.
We've been asking him and his other half to go out for a meal for years and last night she told us that he only eats crisps and cereal

I've been a vegetarian for over 3 years now and never liked meat as a child. I would chew and chew liver which I detested...only ate chicken before going veggie.

I also avoid all fast food, ready meals, fizzy drinks and only drink socially. Anything with artificial sweetners added I avoid like the plague...prefer the natural sugar thanks.

I cook and eat a vegetable rich pasta almost everyday. I fry garlic, red onion, courgette, aubergine, red pepper, tofu, mushrooms and add steamed veg like broc, carrots and baby corn.

For an off day I do my veggie snack of Marmite baked beans on multiseed toast with a fried egg and fried mushrooms / tofu slapped on top. Great with a nice cup of tea.

Still have a little spare tyre as I don't do much excercise...

You're making me hungry, Electronic Dave. Fatal me jumping on to this thread I guess. :D
