The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

how do i know which shop sells G1's? no point in buying G2 atm... as much as i know the ones that ship with 2.1 android are G1's?

@ Lethal - The creator of JJ has released a new one called Swedish Spring RLS3.

Myself I am using the latest nightly (build 31) of the CyanogenMod 7 (Android 2.3.3)and it works really well for me. It is much smoother when playing games but I suggest that you have a read up on each of them, as what suits the needs and preferences of one person will not suit another, hence the different ROM's.
 
I installed Swedish Spring R2 yesterday (didnt know an R3 was out) and first impressions are its slightly more responsive than the JJ9 I had on previously.

However Im having the same problem with both in that the default email app wont work properly with my IMAP account, and K9 Mail whilst working perfectly with my IMAP account just wont connect to my exchange account, so Im having to use two email clients.

Other than that SSR2 has been great for me so far.
 
Trying to install SS RLS3....

Every time I reboot phone it still has de-oranged r7 on it, of course without my user data etc.

What am I doing wrong?
 
Thinking of getting my mum one of these for her birthday so she can play sudoku and scrabble / wordfeud plus have access to her emails.
Most likely I'm just opening myself up to a massive world of pain with an endless loop of "how does this work?" questions from her but is there anything to be specifically aware of?
I'd be getting it from orange and not rooting it.

Mines from Orange.
Unlocked.
Rooted.
Still on the stock ROM, but I used Titanium backup to de-orange it a bit. Has to be rooted fo TB to work, but the rooting can be reversed afterwards.
The orange email app is rubbish, so I use K9 mail.
Battery only lasts ~24 hours between charges, but I think that's because I have the alarm clock on.
 
@Cheetah- what do you mean by the modaco ROM...? Is it the R12 revision by "Paul"...? I did notice that they had fixed some wi-fi issues in revision 11. Which one are you using..?

I am using the latest nightly of CM7 and the Wi-Fi has been very stable for me with no disconnects. When I used the FLB-Froyo ROM's they seemed fine, although I had only a little play with the 11b release.

Yeah the one by paul r12....the latest one

For those that did have issues with WIFI and the modaco ROM, can you recommend me a more stable ROM to goto, I love the modaco ROM apart from the WIFI.

I'm currently running Swedish Spring RLS3. Rock solid rom, fast and everything just... works :-)

From what I've read on Modaco the Blade's that are sold with Android 2.1 are Gen 1 devices, and those sold with Android 2.2 are Gen 2 devices.
IF that is true, then any UK device will be a Gen 1 device as we only get Android 2.1 in the UK.

It's worth reading info over on Modaco and checking it out for yourself, though.
 
Or you can look on the market, and install ask mr pigfish. It's for the blade and will tell you what gen it is.
