***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

all I would say is if you think Crysis II looks bad, you must not play many games. :D also have just proved that pleasing is absolutely impossible, Crytek have been and always will be in the PC communities eyes, damned if they do, damned if they don't. crying about the lack of DX11 just speaks volumes about the sort of people they are trying to avoid by going more toward the console market, so yeah PC gaming is dying, know why...? take a look in the mirror people...;) welcome to reality, get used to it or lump it, simple as that really.

Edit: remember all we heard about the original game was it was terrible, it didn't run properly, it was 'unplayable' because the frame-rate wasn't 60 frames/second and all that rubbish. also how the story, the plot, the aliens were all terrible and the best part of the game is running around the woods chasing Korean soldiers. then the complaints about how Crysis II (set in the middle of a modern day city may I add) is 'too grey and brown', completely missing the whole fact cities are in-fact very grey and very brown, hell go to a city and have a look around, be shocked by the lack of 'lush tropical colours'. love how so many people are missing some of the true merit of Crytek's latest offering and outright slating it for the pettiest little things, who cares that its actually a pretty decent game since it doesn't push my NVIDIA GTX 590 to the utter limit and makes me computer run at 95*C (the other 90% of people complaining about how it doesn't run well, its 'too demanding'). makes me actually glad I don't call myself a 'PC Gamer' any-more, just think of myself as someone who enjoys computer games, I for one applaud Crytek completely.

I was agreeing with you 'til this....

:D:D:D

one of those people who complained endlessly about how the first game was terrible as soon as you were forced to stop chasing helpless Koreans through the jungle I suppose? or one of the ones who complained that Crysis had no real story, and was just another generic FPS?

If 5850 / 470 class cards are getting around 45fps with extreme settings@1680x1050 / i5@4ghz, do we really want dx11 + tessellation + softer shadows + added fx ?

Would any of them add to the gameplay ? No imho.

Could they potentially make gameplay worse ? Yes imho, due to the possibility of lower fps.

Bring on the texture pack. Couldn't care less about dx11.

i agree with a lot of what you have said Gashman, but i would have to disagree about the plot, At this moment in time. Though i haven't completed it yet, and hear that it improves.
do you think that maybe they have overreacted to the accusation that the first one fell apart in the 3rd act by trying to spread the core story out more, but just getting the pacing wrong?

well to be frankly honest, Crytek have always been a bit dodgy with pacing and what stories in general, which is why I think they've done such a good job with the second one. it does indeed get better once the plot begins to unravel into the game, starts really slow but the slow start I think gives you time to appreciate some of the touches they've added, to give you the feel of a city in crisis (or Crysis even!). the first game merely changed, it didn't get better or worse after the Core level, it was just different, no longer could you pick on hapless Korean blokes running through the trees and throw chickens at them and stuff, on Delta the aliens are actually quite lethal, even those little troopers when they get into close combat they tear you up! :)

i'm holding off from a final score until i've completed it, but so far i am enjoying it, and am probably looking at a score of around 8.5 at the moment.(that is assuming that MP gets sorted sharpish)
They desperately need to sort out multiplayer though. i enjoy it when i get a game!

Also, as i have said before, the game would greatly improve, and even become a different game imo, if you could get rid of that ******* tactical visor thing. I imagine someone could create a mod to do that?

I read there was an patch released today that sorted the MP issues so I log in, check my custom class and all is set as I previously set it, join a server and straight away my LE bundle and custom class resets!!!!

Doing my head in the MP is seriously screwed

I rarely am able to connect to a server and frequently even if I do I will eventually lose connection to it :(

Anybody else having this problem with the multiplayer?
There is a thread about working ranked servers on mycrysis page. Thanks to that thread I was able to find out that if you filter only for "NFO" (nuclear fallout) servers they work relatively well (for me at least). It's difficult to connect, find not full and non empty server, sometimes the counter simply won't start the game and since it's in US you' ll get ping > 100ms. But once I successfully started the game there was only minimum disconnects if any (don't remember) NFO were like the only servers I was able to find which made the MP playable for me (all others well disconnecting like hell). But that was when I last played it = on Saturday - dunno how it will go today. Also I don't understand why some servers (NFO) would work while others wouldn't.

Completely unable to play this at the moment.

Not only does MSAA not work, but also the water and HUD is flickering. Patched the game to 1.1 and still no luck.

Will have to wait a while i guess.

Having no issues and really enjoying it. Downloaded and using the AdvancedGraphicsOptions software and it appears a bit more prettier. Could be wrong though and just imagining things, but it's pretty nonetheless. Haven't ran into any hitches or errors so no complaints from me.

Hey guys - really enjoying the multiplayer (esp FFA it's mental lol). I would be interested to know what settings people are running. Here are mine:

I get 60-100fps at 1920X1200 with these settings. I found some of the AA settings to really hammer my FPS. I'm not sure how much discernible difference they made when they were on.

Run everything at the highest possible settings at 1920 x 1200. Don't know what FPS I'm getting but it's running liquid smooth. Have a 5870.

Everything maxed, 100fps at 1920x1200, 35fps at 6000x1200.

The game is really well optimized for PC, and looks great imo. Hmm, I would have thought you could put everything on High beh, looking at your specs.
