Putting together a hot gaming rig. Is it that good?

That system you linked to is a good one - if you don't want to build it yourself.

If you are going for a 240GB SSD, I'd suggest you go for one like the Vertex 3 - these are really quite a bit faster than the competition. Here is a review.

Wow that ssd 240 is like 2 times faster than standard 240ssd. Thanks for letting me know.

Would a 8. NZXT LXE Touch Screen fit in top bays of Antec 1200 Case? I got wood by that fancy touch display! It be good to see fan and temp speeds of my 2 sli GPU's and CPU!

That pre built system tyranosaurs i was thinking that gtx480 GBT SOC would be very close in performance to 580 in it but way cheaper! Please advise

I don't think the LXE is made to go in the PC case itself - it looks like it just sits on the desk. The LX however does go in the case and takes up two 5.25in slots - so it will fit fine in an Antec 1200.

However, because of the way GPU temperature is measured and the GPU fans controlled - this bay will not be able access these, since they run through windows.

If you really wanted to see these outputs on a front bay - you could buy a small usb touch screen and run CCC/GPUz on it. But imho this is a lot of expense for not much utility.

wheres the part where your trying not to break the bank! i spent £880 on my gaming rig with no monitor or keyboard/mouse, you want 3x sli 3 monitors! to me thats breaking the bank and the ones either side and probably massive overkill for something you want to be a gaming rig for the the next few years, if i bought that i would probably want it buried with me lol,

Was gonna get alianware pre built one. They are about £3000 for mid range system. So am making a saving here already. Gonna push this rig to around £2500 but the happy news is it will take all for next few years.

I know this system could be done on cheap radeon and amd style. But i want quality all way... Like someone said in previous posts there are too many problems with radeons now...

Am accustomed to playing in style! Only the best will do!! Just like Donald Trump I think big and kick ass!

no faults with mine, taken every update not a single glitch.

im sure there are others too like me, personally ive been dealt 3 bad gtx460's all noisy as hell with squeaky fans, also how can you say amd/radeon is cheap style! all depends what level your buying?

Thigh thread has put major smiles on my face :D I've just built a gaming rig based around AMD graphics and cpu and its running everything like a dream, how you can say AMD is cheap style is beyond me. My rig cost me less than 500 quid yet it will probably still do me for the next two years. And especially when i upgrade the GPU again in a month or two.

+5 for the troll comments :)

You seem to've forgotten to mention RAM in the list there... May I recommend these

Not sure if you'd want two packs, I don't think you'd see any massive boost with 8GB over 4GB, but the option is always there isn't it :)

Otherwise, like others have said, I'd pick the 2600K every time... Even if it's just for the chance to get a CPU-Z validator banner with it running over 5.0GHz LOL

£500 and it will run all on max settings inc BF2BC2? I very much doubt that?

i dont ;)

any 400-500 quid tower could max bf:bc2... dont need top of the line spec to max it at playable framerates... all you do by spending tons on a system is gain higher fps than most.. and the future proofing.. well until intels next cpu comes along n requires a brand new socket.. :D

might wanna get off your intel/nvidia fanboy wagon n realise they aint as good as you think... nvidia cards always overheat for me.. or break... or break.. making them overheat on there own when they shouldnt.. so they break more n stop workin...

n 2k on a system?... dude £800-£1000 is max most people would spend on a system... n thats pushin it at that..

I agree, a Phenom II X4 955BE system with a 5850 GPU and a 800 series motherboard will be around £500 and play BF:BC2 at 1080p and look amazing while doing it.

However, if you start bringing in things like eyefinity/surround 3 monitors then you need a lot more graphics power - and since the performance per £ goes down as you get to the top-end cards/motherboards/PSUs then things start getting very expensive very quickly.

£500 system maxing out bf2bc2 at 35fps lowest - i'd like to see that system working!

How can you spend £1000 on a system if you want 3 screens nvidia and best BUDGET CPU currently i2600k? Its not gonna happen! (try to plot it out if you hard enough).

I've tried hard to build good system that can take ifnitiy 3 screens for under £1500 and its hard! http://www.overclockers.co.uk/syscon_int.php?prodid=FS-282-OK

I like the way OC guys charge £100 for Stage 5: MAX OC OF ENTIRE SYSTEM - (CPU, RAM Graphics all OCd to maximum 24/7 Stability) - [add £100.00]. Anyone try that? Whats the percentage of oc? Stage 4 is 25% all OC!

As above, a Phenom II X4 + HD 5850 will do that with no issues and will cost about £500 for a full system with current prices.

I bet many ppl on this forum have this configuration and will be able to verify this.

Have a look at this - though you would need to assemble it yourself (really not too hard - very good guide here).

BF2:BC2 is not that taxing for a PC (unfortunatly most "modern" games are similarly not pushing modern PCs that hard).

To save costs game designers are coding for multiple platforms..

What about 3 screens to go with it cmdr? and i want i2600k as its a superb oc'er! You've go to listen mate! Just spec my self a real gaming rig for next few years! Check it:

Now only add 3x27 monitors at about £600 and the master peace is complete!
