Brian Cox series on BBC

I like Brian Cox, wasn't sure at first but he's grown on me. He also does a pretty good show on Radio 4 with Robin Ince called The Infinite Monkey Cage, a more lighthearted commentary on science.

Ok, I'll bite. Fancy giving some examples of what you're disputing?

The fact that the series has got everyone talking about physics can only be a good thing, particularly if it gets more youngsters interested in studying real science rather than **** poor pointless A levels and degrees.

Personally, I find the show a little bit annoying and patronising, but that's just because I'm easily wound up. And there are a few too many arty shots of sand dunes coupled with over-simplified descriptions.

If anyone's interested, I really recommend watching BBC4's Everything and Nothing with Prof Jim Al-Khalili. He explains things to the layman much better than Cox does, and there aren't any silly sand dunes.:)

Quite like it - I don't find him patronising and some of the metaphors he uses (including the sand dunes! :D) are very good.

I'm not great with Physics but I can get my head around most of what he's saying and get the ideas behind it. He's obviously very passionate about the subject as well which comes accross in the program.

It's obviously pitched to the masses and, as the previous but-one poster said, if it's got people talking about it then that's a great thing.

The universe was created by an intelligent being and not once in his series does he aknowledge it.

Probably because there is no scientific evidence supporting such a thing. It being a science program you would expect it to rely on scientific evidence. Now if it was a theology or philosophy program you might have a point. It isn't, so you don't.

This.

Personally I love his programs. Hes a good communicator and is able to get the theroies across in an understandable way.

aside from godbotherers,

I really enjoy the series, I can see why the guy could rub you the wrong way but he sung an awesomely cheesey song and now he sends me to sleep talking about billions and trillions, I think it's great and I'd love to have him round for dinner

Brian Cox is a bit of a douche, hes got where he is today cos he looks normal and not your stereo typical science ugly geek.

Its his sheer normality (possibly good looking???) that has served him.

I think hes a complete bell end too. He talks like the **** at the party that has smoked one too many Js and is tryign to "freak you out" with how wonderful the universe is man,... omg its full of stars..!
