***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

I don't understand, a game like crysis, not using DX11 endorsed by Nvidia.
Why would they have not made it DX11 out the box ?

Not that i'm really that bothered as i'm loving the game as it is, DX11 would be nice to see though

What's the point of maximum armour, it does f' all!

Why do i have to start so far back when i die, where's the save?

I can see why they said it took atleast 5hrs for the interesting bits to happen, so far i'm not feeling it

I have that exact problem in multiplayer on Xbox Live. for some unknown reason my Maximum Armour seems vastly inferior to others maximum armour, some dude last night I shot him repeatedly in the back with the K-VOLT (which totally murders me, yet is rubbish when you use it?! reminds me of the Concussion Gun from Halo: Reach, worse weapon in history yet seems to kill me so often?!) only for this dude to simply turn around and shoot me twice! TWICE! when I had 89% energy remaining and armour enhance equipped. so either the game is really weird or I am seriously missing something about it, other times I shoot people at almost point blank range with a shotgun and it does absolutely nothing against their Maximum Armour, yet there are times when I (using Maximum Armour) get one shotted with the shotgun, WTF?!

Last night I got so fed up with the game it's now uninstalled. I actually completed Warhead and Crysis but this is just a mash of nonsense.

Fine for me.

Same here, I don't have an issue with it. I'd utterly agree that there should be a choice though. Even the original had a slider to control it.

<edit>Sorry, just had to laugh at the massive 60p off on the this week only offer...

I've not had enough time to play it, only about 1 hour last night.

First impressions are not great... I can't believe they've not fixed the many multiplayer connection issues since the beta and actually seem to have new ones like the lost cd key every 4-5 games! The xfire flickering was terrible until I forced the bioshock profile in RadeonPro and without DX11 support for things like hardware tessellation as well as the terrible optimisation for ATI cards it just seems like a rushed/sloppy job by Crytek.

For a company who expects to resell their engine to other developers using Crysis 2 as a AAA showcase I'm very unimpressed.

Graphics-wise the multiplayer graphics are obviously nerfed down a bit but I think they look good in both MP and SP although bloom and filters are way over done. Some of the textures are pretty poor quality, I can tell those have been reduced to work on consoles, modern 1gb+ gfx cards can handle way, way bigger textures. There's also very little bump-mapping and depth filters going on with them, too flat looking. What really looks terrible is the foliage! That's always been a strong point in the old engines but on the MP maps and the start of the first level they suck, literally a square box with a basic semi-transparent texture. Right out of games form 2-5 years ago!

With everything on extreme in plays well, vsync on and it sits at 60fps easily with some drops to 40-ish.

I'll not comment not the story yet but it's disappointing that the world is not so open as the rpevious games. Multiplayer looks fun for a blast though so it'll probably stay on my system for a while.

Am about halfway through SP and it is very good. Storyline isn't great but gameplay more than makes up for it - gfx are fine once fov is altered, would definitely recommend it to others as easily the best sp fps of the last year or 2 . The MP however is awful and a big disappointment compared to the intelligent strategy required in crysis MP and wars.

On the contrary, for developers wanting to make a multi-platform game, and most do as that's how they make money, it would be ideal. Console owners are totally raving about it and there's still lots of PC owners that are very pleased with it. It's the best looking multi-platform game I've played on PC, for sure.

i just want to say that, whilst i am greatly enjoying this game, and believe that the multiplayer will be excellent, when fixed. If there is no directx 11 patch released, then it will probably greatly affect my views and rating of this game. Personally, i think it looks great already, but it will be quite shocking if it doesn't come.

So much rumour around about it!!
Surely there will be a patch though?

Why ?

What exactly do you expect dx11 support to add to it ?

Or hoping to add that will make it a better game to play ?

i know it probably will not add much to it, but it will be disappointing, especially for those who have high-end GPU's who expect to be able to make use of it in the latest games that get released.
Anyway, i am enjoying the game
Releasing the game witohut DX11 support was never going to go down well with PC gamers

The DX11 patch won't make the game better. The gameplay for SP is linear. You only really need DX11 if you wish to explore stuff... other than kicking some cars off roofs, it's run and shoot!

It won't come. If it does, I'll eat my... err... motherboard!

Im actually quiet enjoying this only really played it for around 30mins tho. The one thing i dont really understand tho is you can pretty much use your cloak all the time which makes it kinda easy and pointless at times.

Also is there a way of knowing if motion blur is on or not i honestly cant tell. I have added r_motionblur = 0 to my system config file but i cant really tell if its worked or not, im using "Very High" settings as well
