Happy Days

Why not, every person I know that has a cat does not have young children coming into their garden to play, been living here since birth and always had cat crap, not nice when young kids are playing in the garden, why should we have to check that there is no cat crap in the garden, so the kids can play.

Summer is the worst time, getting stocked on ammo :D

All though I feel for you guys ( I have a dog and cat so have to clean plenty of pooh up and its bad enough when its my pets!)

How can I stop my cat from doing its business in other peoples gardens?

Don't let your cat go into other peoples gardens, the same way every, dog, horse, rabbit, hamster, bird, fish, owner does.

It's not really the same at all though. You would need to modify your garden to prevent it from venturing outside its parameters, which wouldn't be easy/convenient of course. Either that or keep it indoors but I don't think that's a good way to keep a cat. One of my neighbours does that and the poor bugger stares out the window 24/7 wondering what it would be like to get outside. It can be quite funny when a bird lands right in front of him and he can do F all about it though! :p

Are you aloud to shoot them with a pellet gun?

ive got a .177 co2 pistol and a .22 air rifle

ive taken a hit with the .177 and that did sting! i wouldnt do it with the .22 though as i bet that would stay inside of you until you dug it out.

i dont exactly want owners to have to visit the vets and pay out to a get pellet out of their cat. i dont want to cause the cat any real harm either

I hear tuna and antifreeze works well. :p Personally I keep working terriers so things like cats and foxes know to keep well enough away. The ones that don't tend not to last very long.

I'd say shoot them with a suitable rifle (NOT an air rifle ffs). Not always practicable if you're in an urban environment though. :p As for the whole "How could we stop it? It's cruel to keep cats in" brigade - tough, tbh. My dogs would love to run riot around the streets sniffing out pets to kill. Doesn't mean I let them, no matter how much they beg.

Likewise my sister has a cat and doesn't let it out. Another friend has cats and meshed in their garden so the cats can play out without escaping. I just think they're vermin, but never mind. :D

Is it a myth that peeing round the garden will deter animals?

I had to do it, i had 12 chickens and 2 ducks in my back garden,

all couped up in a shed and in a caged fence at night.

The fox had a nice dinner. 11 chickens and a duck, just nom nom nom'ed

safe to say, peeing around the garden didnt help :(

Lion poo is supposedly the business when it comes to natural solutions, and can be used as manure I thought (though disagrees with the logic of carniverous poo being bad). Can be bought from most zoo's.

Find it amusing when people get outraged at cats going in their gardens (not crapping going, just entering the garden), even more so about foxes. I understand the annoyance, but cats aren't some plague upon man kind, and should rarely be kept inside. There are a variety of things you can plant/put down to keep them away, there is bugger all the owner can do to prevent it going in your garden.

I'd hope whoever mentioned air pistols is joking, if you weren't note that you'd quite easily get arrested or at least heavily fined and a record for shooting a cat with an air rifle/pistol. That said, water pistols are quite effective. Cat's may not be as trainable as dogs, but they will learn to not go in the garden if every time they do they get a soaking, and it's relatively humane.

If you can see the cats when they come into the garden then a water pistol ( those great big ones) filled with cheap washing up liquid and pepper and squirted on the cats fur gets rid of them as they hate it when they lick the stuff off! They won't come back after that!

I had one cat that kept coming round and killing my pond fish as they basked near the pond edge...I didn't want to use the WP as it would contaminate the pond so I eventually netted the cat and held it under the water for a few seconds before letting it go! Funny I've not seen it since!;)

And you seem so proud of your act of animal cruelty

Apart from not letting it roam loose to kill protected wildlife (eg songbirds), kill other people's pets, spread faeces and potentially Toxoplasmosis, and generally annoy the hell out of everyone, before ultimately being hit by a car, perhaps? :p

The Link Between Animal Abuse and Serial Killers

"Animal abuse is a recognized sign of a mental disorder"

Have to say, some of the posters in here are flat out weirdoes and I'd happily key their car just for suggesting that people kill somebody else's pet animal.
Do you froth at the mouth when a bird poos on your car? Get a grip you freaks

Mine rarely poo outside, it's called having a few litter trays in the house. I've no problem with a neighbour using a hosepipe if they are that bothered. Given that most people have a cat or a dog around here, I don't have to put up with nut cases with air rifles or antifreeze.

Took longer than I thought for animal rights people to post.

For the record killing them isn't something I'd do. But the pepper in a water pistol sounds like a good half way house.
