The BMW M3 CSL Reborn

I think the LCI E90 is the best of the bunch. I'm a huge fan of it! However, i will admit, that's a bad colour combo :/

The pics do make the car look crap, for that colour combo the tints and the black rims makes the car look weird and this is from a total fan of the E90 M3.

My sauce shows:
E90: 1,781Kg
E92: 1,680Kg

That wrong or did you fail to read my post?

Either way it still weighs more than the moon.

Whats your source and what's Foxs source? Last time this kind of thing came up Fox disingenuously corrected someone by comparing his own measurements for his car against the manufacturers of another car ignoring his own cars manufacturors data. It was one of his biggest shameful moments and left me deeply disappointed in him.

Can't open link on this device but that looks like the US one to me.

It's the German one with no extras, a 68kg driver, 90% full tank and 7kg of luggage.

E92: 1655kg or 1675kg with the DCT gearbox.
E90: 1680kg or 1700kg.

We could argue about the less than 5% difference between BMW figures and other sources till the cows come home (I use Parkers, then Carfolio, then Wikipedia for this sort of rubbish). But the point remains that the E9* M3 is disappointingly fat and a lightweight version would probably be better backed off the E92.

The car will never be released with tints like that. BMW often do this on 'concepts' simply to hide the interior for whatever reason (eg, incomplete).

I don't think that point remains at all. 1680kg is not exactly hugely fat for a reasonably luxurious 420bhp V8 Saloon car.

Lightweight is relative - if a CSL is lighter than the standard car, then great. It doesnt mean that anything heavier than an Elise cannot be called Lightweight in comparison to its base car.

The E46 M3 CSL was almost universally acclaimed as an excellent car and nobody disputed it's lightweight status yet it weighs more than your Alfa 156.

This one is ugly as sin yes, a normal m3 saloon is less so but still nothing on the coupe.

Lets pretend it's silver. There, it's no longer visually any different to the M3 saloon and we can talk about the concept not the unfortunate choice of paint colour.

I think this may be a car more born of BMW Marketing than the M devision. There's enough people who will be conned into thinking it's an uncompromising focussed driving machine, which the Old CSL pretty much was.

Yes it was slightly heavier than my 156, but I have a smaller motor and no RWD, Alfa put effort into making the 156 light by using aluminium in places like engine mounts, the engine and the suspension, the seat frames are magnesium. Yet if it were RWD the 156 would weigh more then the original CSL. I am hoping that in a couple of years I'm in a position to buy one.

This thing isn't that. But people are hailing is as such. Also I quite like the colour.
