***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Anyone having issues with the GT5 website for remote racing still - just impossible to get it working as it just keeps timing out or not showing me options to choose drivers. Bit of a joke attempting to remote race away from the PS3 currently...

ps3ud0

i keep getting problems with the site all the tim, sometimes even getting the site to see my ps3 as been ready for remote race wont work, if i do get it working when i goto select drivers it always shows about 90% as unavailable

This god forsaken Top Gear challenge is driving me mad stupid lotus! It's not even that fast, yet it refuses to turn, brake or even go straight

Anyone have any tips? I have managed to complete Nascar & Go karting challenge, with no problems this ones driving me crazy

Its so easy, its fun :p. Just dont be too eager to attempt to pass cars, being 5th/6th on the final lap is more than fine. Always take the inside of the 2nd corner (Chicago) and try to keep your foot down through the Follow Through (lifting off in the corner makes it skittish). Every corner is an overtaking spot, just dont let it compromise your exit speed...

Learn to take the 2nd from last corner well (Bachrach) - can make a load of time there but watch out for the curious CPU braking - I normally lost when I just piled into the back of the car I was following...

You should get first by time youre at Bachrach again

Only if it were so easy lol I will take that into account I usually 6th after the 2nd chicane but can't seem to keep the car steady after after the follow through at full speed

You dont need to be flat out at the follow through - just not slowing down or out of shape - its been a while since Ive done the challenge, but Im sure if you scrub a bit of speed before the corner it might make it neater to go through - also I have a much different line to the CPU for Bachrach as I hate how the CPU double brakes for that corner - always caught me out...

Not sure what assists I had on but I found once I work out how to drive the car the challenge was easy - its more finding out which corners the CPU takes stupidly...

Yeeesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Thanks guys those aids helped a lot and that Bachrach driving the CPU takes is stupid cutting side earlier is key done it finally!

I think crofty has gone AWOL so I've started a room
1472 - 6681 - 3200 - 9600 - 3926

Come on guys. No F1 or MotoGP this weekend so I need a racing fix :D

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking at getting a new racing game, I'm really not bothered if it's sim or arcade as I enjoy both, but usually I like them to have longevity (I still play forza 2).

But the absolute steal would be to have F1, I really want F1 2010 yet I know GT5 has F1 in it, is the F1 any good or would I be better off buying F1 2010?

Cheers

Well if you're into F1 Racing GT5 isn't the game for you. There are 2 F1 Cars (Both Ferrari's) and you can't actually use them in any races whatsoever. Overall though GT5 is an excellent game and having played both I personally believe that GT is superior. Although it can be very frustrating at times!

What Crofty said, there are only two F1 cars plus the "Formula GranTurismo" which is an imaginary "F1 car with more power" but it handles like a dog and the RedBull X1 which is a completely un-realistic turbo-charged 1500hp fan car which seems to produce about elebenty G of downforce, there's no racing against a variety of cars, there's no modelling of aerodynamic damage, dirty tyres, dirt off-line. However it does have longevity if you can manage racing other classes, particularly JGTC (300 and 500), there are a few DTM cars too and a lot of LMP and LM GT cars. I haven't played F1 2010 but get the impression it's pretty damned good and maybe if you can pickup a cheap pre-owned GT5 Prologue (£15 even before the release of the full game) that would give you some idea of what it's like.. but it would take forever to get the money for an F1 car in that.

What car do I need to use to win A-Spec Expert series "Historic Racing Car Cup"?

Not sure, getting nothing close.

Depends.

Are you using a wheel and taking the game very seriously? If so you can do it in a Countach (Not the 25th aniversary version as thats an '88) fully mod it, all the aids off except ABS, big rear wing, adjust the gear ratios for the two tracks. Monaco is quite easy if you get out in front before you get to casino square, Deep Forest is more based on absolutely perfect lines and a tiny bit of luck :p You need the Toyota 7 starting as far back as possible or it'll find its way past you on the straight, by spinning you if it has too

If you want an easy way through, or are trying to do it in B-Spec then you need a tuned Toyota 7. These can be won in B-spec or you can borrow one if someone on your PSN friend list sets on to online :)

Thats my Dillema really, I want Formula one but I doubt it'll last me as long as say GT5 would.

If you start on hard difficulty, set long race distances and use the practice sessions F1 2010 will go on forever :) On Hard you start in a Lotus Virgin or HRT, and have to progress through multiple seasons to get a drive in the good cars.
