The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

wow the battery also seems to be really good, [ON CM7 RC4] I done a test yesterday only used text and a few calls (left 3g/wifi/gps off) 8AMP to 8PM and used only 2% of battery. I went to bed at 1AM and it was on 96% left, still havn't changed it since and it's still on 85% battery and I've synced emails, facebook a couple of times to the LP widgets.

Well I received my SF today,

unlocked it and installed Swedish Spring RSL3, only slight issue, I am using my iPhone contract sim in it.

Under the APN settings I selected the O2 MMS PrePay option and I can send and receive MMS messages fine. If I turn on the wifi, it refuses to send the message.

Anyone got any ideas?

I had to delete all the APN's and then manually add my own for it to work for me. Under certain conditions, with the other APN's still there but not selected, it would fail when sending or receiving MMS's.
There is an app called something like APN backup and restore. That I used to delete all of them. Then I had to do the leg work to find the correct settings from my call provider to then create my own.

Might not be your problem but it might help..?

BTW - SS RLS4b is now out.

the only one I have found is the lack of auto focus on the camera. but the camera ain't great anyway so it doesn't affect me.

What? Mine seems to focus by itself without fault - Using SS RLS2, cba installing another rom only just got this, and my battery life has increased dramatically with a 729mhz overclock :)

I'm currently on Swedish Spring ROM but I'm still having issues when installing Spotify... Please could some one suggest me the next best ROM to use as I don't really know what I'm looking for.

Many thanks

I just swapped from FLB 10 to SS4 and I'm experiencing the same issue. Do you already have songs cached off-line on your memory card?

Hmm not enough for now, so i'll stick with RLS3

New in RLS4

Hardare UI accelleration made default (can be turned off with "Extra Settings"-app).
No longer overclocked by default.
Uses "ondemand" governor by default again (using smartass governor and overclocking at the same time can make the camera work less optimal)
Updated BFQv2 to BFQv2-1
Fixed HH.mm -> HH:mm for Dansih, Finnish and Norwegian localizations.
Some small tweaks to acpuclock.c (cleaned up overclocking code)
Added two lower overclocking frequencies for phones that have stability issues with 652.8MHz.
Developed a small app ("Extra Settings") that controls Compcache, USB-Charging and HW UI.
Readded swap and compcache support as it can help those with Chinese V880 phones.

BTW - SS RLS4b is now out.

Thats because you are using a 2.2 Froyo rom.

The Cyanogen rom is 2.3 Gingerbread. But the focusing bug is gone for me in the latest RC build.

On RLS3 it was overclocked by default but that's no longer the case with RLS4. So might account for the battery issues people were having, obviously not in the case where people clocked it back to its original frequency.

Thanks for the info, I installed APN backup and restore but couldn't work out how to use it,

I will install again from the Marketplace.

I am going to try the stock rom and see what happens

There's a problem right there. In a contract you post pay, not pre pay. So you selected the wrong APN

Well installed swedish spring rls4 and battery life is still kinda sucky.

I'm fairly sure that every ROM recommends you give it a few days before you judge the battery life, something to do with calibration of the battery. You can also reset the battery statistics in the ClockworkMod boot menu thing.

I bought this just after they came out as payg to stick my wifes contract sim in (she wanted a new phone but orange wanted £350+ for an iphone and 2 year contract) anyway just ditched orange and shes now got tesco sim only plan, £10 a month job inc 500mb data, 5000 txt and 250 mins i was expecting to have to unlock the phone but the tesco 02 sim worked straight off
