In the new(er) movies, what are the skinny robots called. (The ones that are in the big battle at the end of ep1, for example).

Also, has episode VII been written? I was wondering if it's available in book form, even if it hasn't been made into a movie.

Speaking of which, are there plans for making any more movies?

Battle droids. Blue ones with wrist blasters are SBDs (super battle droids), but that's ep2/3.

Don't know the answer to the other questions.

The skinny robots are Battle Droids.

Episode 7 does not exist. No more movies are planned, there are lots of books though if that is your thing.

There were rumours of a Star Wars TV series though but not heard anything on that for a long time.

Ok thanks, the wikipedia article on 'battle droids' tells me all I wanted to know.

Pretty hard to believe star wars has such a massive fan base given that it's only based on 6 movies, 3 of which didn't even exist until recently, and at least one of them is universally considered to be rubbish (ep1).

I hope they do make a series and/or new movies. There just doesn't seem to be enough material to justify the massive fanbase.

I hope to god they don't make any more films, Lucas would turn it into some 3d gimmicked farce.

As for your second point about the material there is huge amounts of stuff out there. Literally hundreds of books and comics.

Is there not rumors its coming out in 3D? The orginals I mean.

Your missing out then. Some brilliant books to be read.

Definately, for anyone who played the X-Wing or TIE Fighter computer games back in the day the X-Wing books by Michael A. Stackpole are absolutely brilliant makes me seriously wish they would release an re-make of those games!

Live action tv series is on hold indefinitely while they work out how to apply a tv budget to movie-style production values. It's definitely not canned and will be happening, it's just a matter of time, resource and emerging technology apparently! My source is a friend that works for lucasfilm. :)

It is amazing what a well thought out universe can create even if there hasn't been any new original material for years - Star Wars has such a rich tapestry from which to work that it's hard not to imagine how people have come up with all the 3rd party books / comics etc

Am not looking forward to the 3D versions of the films AT ALL - it'll be aweful as they'll be post processing all the 3D into it like they did with Clash of the Titans :(

As much as everyone whines about George Lucas, he's definitely helped to create one of the most established and expansive sci fi universes out there. Although that being said, allot of the credit for that goes to the countless people that have written and produced the many books, games, comics etc in the expanded universe.

Not bad for someone who negotiated for the licensing rites for Star Wars, which everyone thought was worthless. Certainly paid off in the decades that have past.. :)

The Clone Wars TV series (now in it's 3rd season) **** over the new triliogy from a very very great hight. Almost, if not as good as, the OT

Not that hard to believe -the original series was one of the most compelling sci fi series ever.

As for not enough material - the first three movies were massive - and then huge amounts of fan literature, comics, merchandise, toys, and computer games (Tie Fighter = pure genius) followed them.

The new movies are kind of crap, but Im sure there were lots of kids who enjoyed them. (Personally I thought episode 1 was the best of the 3 newer ones).
