The Beech Hill Hotel on Windermere. Never stayed there, but the location fits...

I'm not the biggest fan of Sharrow Bay, all the furnishing etc. are far too much like your average old persons house! The food is great though I'll give you that!

Armathwaite Hall however has food almost on par, yet the general ambience is much better.

Depends if you want nice food too

Linthwaite country house is also good....not on the lake but good views of it.

Anyway, thanks to the the peeps who have provided some recommendations, I'm going to check them out and then book this weekend. I'm actually looking forward to a nice break that far north.

As seen on The Trip, I'd recommend Holbeck Ghyll. I certainly want to stay there if I get to venture up to the Lake District again.
