Is 8x 8x Crossfire bandwidth ok for 2 x 5850

Quick question as above will a 790x mainboard with 8x 8x crossfire be enough for a pair of 5850's....

AFAIK 2x8 gives 95% of performance of 2x16.

it will work fine. I'm running my 5850's in a x8/x8 set up

(i don't even need to crossfire, but they were so cheap

)

Exellent, I have no need but I have been offered so cheap resistance is futile...

Now I hope my TX650 will power it all, I have faith in the high current beasty...

The board is an ASUS M4A79XTD EVO seems a good ish board.

Fixed

95% is for 16x/4x.

790FX chipset will be perfectly fine for CF/SLI with any card

Just to clarify, a TX650W should be perfectly adequte for your low voltage Phenom and 2HD5850s

The two HD5850s should use about 380W in Crysis (according to anandtech - seems a bit high to me though :confused:

) and your CPU probs draws about 140W

I'm running 5830 CF on x8/x8, but never run it x16/x16 so I've got nothing to compare it to.
