Calling all sci-fi geeks... star wars question :P

The Clone Wars TV series (now in it's 3rd season) **** over the new triliogy from a very very great hight. Almost, if not as good as, the OT

Although I don't hate the prequel trilogy, I do agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment about the Clone Wars series, although I may be a little biased as my pal works on the show. ;) However, personally for me, nothing will ever touch the original trilogy, I am a massive SW Extended/Expanded Universe fan though.

I watched the first half of the first season of the Clone Wars show (second not first) and it was utter ****, still not as bad as that movie, everyone involved in that should be given jail time :p

Meh, 2nd and 3rd seasons are much, much, much better, but tbh if you felt that strongly about the first season, I doubt you'd like the others anyway.

Originally George Lucas had the vision to make Star Wars a nine-parter. He's said he won't be doing episodes 7-9 though from what I last read. Shame he didn't write all 9 parts when he first wrote ep 4-6 :(.

Yeah, I think everything would have turned out a little differently if he had written screenplays for all 9 films up-front. Who knows though, maybe that would have affected ep 4-6 in a bad way? Also, as adamant as Lucas is about no episode 7-9, you never know, "Always in motion, the future is.". :)

Lucas drops hints about possibly doing eps 7-9 all the time and then quickly dismisses them. Maybe we fans are reading too much into what he says? I don't know, but I really do hope that he continues the story, even if he doesn't direct them himself.

He didn't do the screenplays for Empire or ROTJ either.

Follow on's will bemade when he dies, I'd hate for him to be involved in another himself. Just about everything written in the expanded universe post ROTJ is better than anything Lucas came up with.

The Jedi academy trilogy, Vong story set and even the New Jedi Order series of books make Lucas efforts look laughable.

He should have given the basic outline of the story for the prequels to someone else to complete and produce.

I've always had this vague hope that Lucas is waiting for Hamill, Ford and Fisher to get old before producing the next movie. Would be great having old actors in their original roles, rather than the never-authentic-looking age make up they usually use.

I do agree that he'll probably make a hash of it, though. Star Wars ("A New Hope" if you must) was a work of genious, as was the next episode. It's gone gradually downhill from there.

As for Lucas's "improvements" to the original - LET'S NOT GO THERE!

(p.s. - Han shot first :p)

It is amazing what a well thought out universe can create even if there hasn't been any new original material for years - Star Wars has such a rich tapestry from which to work that it's hard not to imagine how people have come up with all the 3rd party books / comics etc

Am not looking forward to the 3D versions of the films AT ALL - it'll be aweful as they'll be post processing all the 3D into it like they did with Clash of the Titans :(

Then don't bloody watch them!

I don't get why people complain about remakes/remasters/whatever. Just don't go and see them! :p

Seconded, fantastic books which really captured the spirit of the Star Wars universe.

+2 on that ... that trillogy of books is what kicked off the continued adventures ... had it when it first came out ... got rid of my entire collection a few years ago as my eyesight cant take the small writing anymore lol.

I hope they do make a series and/or new movies. There just doesn't seem to be enough material to justify the massive fanbase.

I think that there is some great material out there post Episode 6, Even though I've not read all of the books myself.

I'd just like to see someone else take on the directing, leave Lucas to produce the films.
