Holiday on your own?

Hey, I have 10 days off at Easter but none of my friends can get the same and I'd really like to go on holiday. Has anyone done this and can share your experiences of it?

I could use a real relaxing sunny beach holiday but am concerned that I will be majorly bored. I am thinking of going to Mexico.

havent holidayed alone but travel with work alone, I tend to go for cities with culture, not a beach person.

I am only going West this holiday as I am going to be seeing a lot of the East in the years to come.

Although I could do a bit of travelling through Europe but I'm a pretty last-minute guy, I would be worried about finding myself without any accomodation in some freezing dodgy country some night.

I'm probably free if that helps? I'm a pretty last-minute guy myself too.
 
Not sure how I'd do on my own on a beach holiday.

If I were going away on my own I'd do a bit of inter city travelling in Europe and maybe finish in Croatia for 2/3 days of sun, sea and suppositories.
 
Many times, from Australia to the Grand Canyon.

Overall opinion - it's fine, but it's still better, and cheaper, when travelling with people you know.

If you do it, watch out for single supplements. Nasty sting in the tail, those.

How do you entertain yourself? Or meet people? Do you go on a lot of activities or tours?
 
there are loads of travel companies where you can go with a group. look at the STA travel site
i've done it and you make some good friends.
going to a beach alone for a week would kill me, i need to be doing some sort of sight seeing or activities
 
one dreary wednesday at work end of august 2008 i was sat at work bored and looking at flights, i was in florida by the saturday. had a week in orlando and a week in florida and it was awesome! met people on the first day as i stayed in a hostel and travelled down to miami with 3 other people and met more people in the hostel i stayed in there but i still (technically) went on my own.
