Feeding children meat is child abuse

also the amount of KFC PIZZA and other CRAP kids eat thats the bad stuff

Lean meat is all good in moderation

Historically as a society we eat far far more meat now than we ever did before, and people died a lot less from heart disease in the past as well. Although to be fair they were too busy dying from starvation and other hungry associated illnesses to die from being fat.

I don't want to come across all holier than thou vegetarian (well, semi vegetarian, I eat meat if it's delicious) but most people eat much too much meat than is needed for a healthy diet and therefore also eat a lot of fat. By vastly cutting down the amount of meat I ate and thus enjoying it more when I do have some I've found I lost a lot of weight and felt a lot healthier.

So although Peta are annoying attention seeking idiots, they sort of have a point even if it has been twisted to suit their tree hugging ideals

We are eating far more sugar and starches, and industrial vegatable fats, with not enough omega-3s. It's causing chronic inflammation, heart/arterial disease and diabetes.

Sugar is the bad guy not animal fat.

The human body is designed to eat meat and fat every day not a bunch of refined carbohydrates, vegatbale oils and estrogenic soy proteins.

+1000,000 :p

It's ok if you have diet coke though, so it must only be the (full fat) coke that's unhealthy...

Eat burgers and diet coke every day for a month and get your blood work done.

Then eat burgers and full sugar coke and fries every day for a month and get your blood work done.

Eat the same amount of calories both months to make it fair. I guarantee you the first month will be healthier even though you are eating twice as much meat.

For once kwerk, I agree with you completely.

It's not though is it.

It's as simple as that, and any statements to the contrary just show the idiocy of the statement maker.

The point being that they were not carnivores but omnivores and probably ate a lot less meat than we do currently.

Current hunter gather tribes gain 55%-65% of their nutritional needs from Fish and Game.

Research of Neolithic remains determined that diets were mainly carnivorous in nature.

Neanderthal are thought to have had a 90% meat diet.

The Saami people of Lapland have a dominantly meat based diet and have low rates of cancer (except bowel cancer) and obesity and average rates of heart disease and stroke.

It's just PETA being PETA. Bunch of idiots.

I'm a vegetarian and when I have kids they will have meat until they are old enough to make their own decision about eating meat. I personally think a vegetarian diet for a child is bad.

Absolutely.

Giving children supplements to compensate for a vegetarian diet as recommended by vegetarian nutritionists implies that the diet (for children at least is not balanced)

Quite.

Also the use of transfats, growth hormones, refined HFCS corn syrup instead of sugar in the US has not helped obesity levels either.

Sorry, it was a joke. I forgot the smilie. :)

I wonder about the artificial sweeteners and flavourings that are used too. Sure, diet coke (for example) contains no sugar, but chemical sweeteners can't be 100% safe can they?

The artificial sweeteners can negatively affect your metabolism. As well as numerous other health problems (claimed at least).

I've lost a lot of weight in the last year and I did by cutting all refined and processed foods from my diet, and loads of exercise.
