Can somebody explain Blackberry's and teenage girls please

I would've thought iphones would be the 'cool' and 'groovy' phone to get these days?

Always assumed blackberrys had a bit of a 'lame' 'whack' 'rep'? Wait..is whack bad?

God I'm cool.

It all comes down to price, the iPhone costs way, way more than most Blackberry phones do.

If I'm a parent, I dont want my son/daughter buggering about at school with a £500-600 handset when they can have a much cheaper Blackberry instead, so it costs less to sort out when they drop it.

:O I know one guy on his 6th BB, a girl on her 3rd and her Mum is on her 2nd!

I'm on my 4th Bold now in 18 months, fortunately they belong to work so I dont care but there's no way I'd ever buy one for myself.

Also I can't think of one person at work who hasn't had theirs swapped out because of handset issues.

the only thing ive ever known to break on blackberrys is the little nipple wheel thing on the older ones, since they've moved over to the touch sensor ive not personally seen one break out of the hundreds ive delt with when working for an IT support contracter for a fair few businesses (also in charge of phones)

Everyone i have ever met who has a BB say they break constantly, and its a headache to keep getting it swapped every 3-6 months.

No they dont lol...ive had BB's since the Bold 9000 and not one has broken on me and neither have i had any issues with the software...although i do reliase that there are faulty Bb's out there but i must be damn lucky that i havent had any such issues.

But then im the sort who looks after my shizzle whereas some people dont...mainly because every yr i get a new BB and sell my old ones for a bit of money.

I dont get the hate for BB's...sure they arent as slick or as powerful as say the iphone4 or the hundreds of android handsets out there....although later this yr the newer handsets will be massively updated with better hardware specs;). But they do whats asked of them quite easily...i own both a BB and an iphone4 and i prefer my BB over the iphone for my day to day stuff ie emails, texts, calls and messaging...so what if they are cheap..saying that the higher end models ie the Bold isnt as cheap as you think it is but still they work pretty damn well.

Hilarious to hear people who are on their 6th BB etc etc...what the hell are those people doing with them??...eating them for brekkie??:p....software problems are usually caused by rogue apps i have found in my experience...but i do realise that some phone might come with a glitchy software which a OS re-load usually fixes it unless its a hardware problem.

my original 8900 broke after about a month i think it was. I had a new phone with all of my data copied over the very next day. which was pretty good i think. and very little bother at all.

the current BB line doesnt interest me. my 8900 is two years old and it wasnt a new model then and even now the current models dont offer much over it. this years refreshes may well bring much improved hardware but os6 isnt the leap forward i'd hoped it was - they are going to have to completely reinvent it. BB's are still very good at what they are made for but the competition is so much more these days. For that reason I'm now out. roll on Galaxy S2

I noticed the same with regards to young girls and BB. The argument at my work is that they have it because the area manager has one(?!?) as if they would just start chatting with one another...which is funny cauz that particular area manager is a complete muppet. If I was to follow the big fishes,I want the CEO's house in Florida anyway:D

its bbm, simple as that

BBM imo is the best instant messenger, and you cant get it on any other phone.
So once a couple of your mates have it, your missing out without it, no other IM feels like this.

Yep, ive tried leaving BB for Android and couldnt help that even with whatsapp it wasnt the same so came back to BB...the fact that its nicely integrated into the BB OS is a massive plus...plus its far more reliable ie the BB servers dont crash that much, they do now and again but thats to be expected as BB's are popular with the younger generation and also a lot of celebs seem to carrying one now....pop over to America and you will see what i mean...

Really? I charge my work BB up maybe once a week. Battery life is incredible

Yeah. It used to be great like last 4 days but i left loads of apps open one night and it made my phone die and ever since then it hasnt lasted longer than 24 hours. To be honest though im always texting, phoning, bbming people so thats more than likely why!

I'm a 21 year old bloke, i got BBM purely to get to girls. You'd be surprise at how great it is. Girls love it because it means they don't have to give their phone number away to 'strangers', with BBM you can delete and block with ease.

Hi,

I think a lot of them also prefer the keypad as opposed to touchscreen for typing , and no doubt the US TV influence probably attracts them too as they seem to pop up on all sorts of programmes seen over here now.

Mike.
