Do you tidy your rubbish at KFC/McD's/BK?

Well the 'Or even care about' pretty much summed up your attitude there. I assume that you yourself don't want to sit at a table filled with rubbish?

As to pubs and pint glasses, this isn't a fair comparison as someone elses old glasses aren't going to stop you sitting down for a drink. At McDonalds if this happens you are pretty much forced to clean up someone elses mess before you are able to start eating.

or..........find another table

I always put my rubbish in the bin, regardless that there are people to clean it up. There are street cleaners whose job it is to pick up rubbish. Should I just eat my stuff on a bench and leave the rubbish there?

Not only that for the rare times I eat in a fast food restuarant it's always rammed and I hate it when I find a seat only to be left with someone elses cartons.

I just see it as a good manners really.

I rarely go these places but if I do I always tidy up after myself as I used to work in a McDonalds back when I was 16 or 17. Never had to tidy around the tables or anything but it really used to annoy those who did, plus its just good manners!

Oh I'm sorry, it's my fault these choose to make burgers and dsweep tables for a living. Get a grip! Seriously, just because someone doesn't like their job I have to feel guilty for it? They dont have to work there or work at all if it pains them that much.

You did use a question mark at the end of every sentence.

Hats off to you lysander for being so "charitable" by putting your rubbish in the bin. I for one will not be doing so, as that is what there job entails and they should be doing their job. Your post is fairly laughable when you read it out loud.
It's pancake - not lysander :D

Have to laugh at the whole "its a restaurant" attitude. It may be called a "restaurant" but that doesn't mean you have an extensive wine list, table service, or for that matter someone to take your big mac box away. I wonder if these people simply sit down and wait for someone to take their order, afterall, it is a restaurant right?

Yes, I put rubbish in the bin, in the same way I take empty glasses back to the bar in pubs. Why would you not? It's only courtesy IMO. It doesn't take much effort, but if everyone does it it helps others out massively.

Those who think that because others are being paid to do it, that they shouldn't, strike me as being awkward for the sake of it.

Glass collecting is a different thing though... I only take glasses back to the bar if I get good service from the bar staff. Otherwise they can do it themselves. :p

Not really the same as McD's where you basically don't ever expect much in the way of customer service.

I put mine in the bin in the vain hope that someone else will do the same when leaving a table before me. Doesn't generally happen though :(

You do expect a level of service, politeness and efficiency though. You don't expect small talk etc, no, but you do have expectations, even if they are lower than in other places. If your expectations are not met, how does taking it out on whoever is cleaning the front help? Surely you'd complain and hope it's dealt with accordingly?

But surely that's just customer service at it's most basic level. If a worker isn't achieving that then they get the sack.

It's different when you're in a bar and staff (on occasion) go the extra mile to make you welcome.

The way it is supposed to work in these places, is that everything is disposable, so that even the most inconsiderate, useless scumbag can tip a tray into a bin and walk out.

The only reason they have to allocate table cleaning to some employees is because some people fall below even this line... I can't comprehend it. The 'someone is employed to do it' or 'why should I if no one else does' or 'they're just doing their jobs' lines do not sit well with me. It's a piece of cake, and common ******* courtesy, and if you ask me anyone who gets up and leaves a mess when its as easy to clear away as it is, is scum.

All offence intended
