Never been to Cornwall, but looking for a bit of R&R for a few nights. Good walking and scenery close to the coast would be ideal. I've been told that the Padstow area is quite decent. Can anyone confirm or offer alternative suggestions for Cornwall?

Depends what you want to do. I've been to Bude many times and it has beaches and you can walk along the coast for quite some way. It's also in driving distance of lots of other interesting stuff you can do, though pretty much everywhere in Cornwall is. Worth looking at.

This is a area of the lizeard in cornwall called Gunwalloe/berepper.

You can walk from Mullion golf club, past Church cove, along the coast to Loe and onto Porthleven. if you are really keen you can get all the way around to Penzance.

There is the Goonhilly tracking station nearby(marked)

the Flambards experience which is a theme/fun park and RMAS Coldrose where there is a viewing enclosure.

Also close by is Gweek Seal sanctuary.

if you're by goonhily then it's worth visiting Roskilly's http://www.roskillys.co.uk/ as it's free!
tbh cornwalls not so big that you can't drive/walk somewhere or most places
if you're helston then it's not far to St Ives or penzance to the west and falmouth and truro to the east

Your on about the chippy, just outside Redruth towards Helston, on the right hand side? been there many times, and then made the fast dash back home to Gunwalloe to eat up:)

Umm morrishes i think?

Like you say on the helston road, yeah they're pretty decent, as is the one up trelawny on the way towards carn brea village.

Lanner chippy is excellent as well, gran used to work there years ago, they always give a decent cod portion.

Exactly vent, ok town centre is nothing to write about but the outskirts top many holiday favourites, plus the flat lode has been revamped quite a bit, done much bike riding down devoran/bissoe in the summer months. There's also a new trail that goes to carn marth and onto carnkie/carn brean it's an excellent run, but little known as it's so new.

And macs is a bit meh as a chippy, ok but nothing special.

And yes i live in redruth, albeit a nice part.

Mevagissey or St.Ives is a lovely place to stay.

Don't come to Perranporth whatever you do! It's busy enough already!

Already plastered my car with the Kernow flag!

Do you live at Gunwalloe Stulid? My Auntie & Uncle lives down there. They live in the big house with the conservatory wrapped around half of it on the lane going down to the beach. John and Sylvia Gilbert.

My family bought a Donkey field opposite the village hall about 30 years ago, and built a Bungalow on it, which was used as a holiday place, Then my mother retired to this place 10 years ago and had it the property extended with her new husband(Northfield), the bungalow is called TREVETH.

I have a home in Weston.

The only house i can think of with a big conservatory on it is down at fishermans cove directly opposite the pub.

tbh talking about the chippy up the hill from the main street, but morrishs is good too although can be skimpy on the fish
biggest fish I've had was threemilestone but they tend to close early (sell out fast)
didn't realise there where so many people from cornwall here

Yeah i know macs, i live all of a mile from there, but i still find it meh as a chippy.

Haven't been for a while, perhaps some fish and chips are in order for a cheat meal later on mmm.

Also there is Hutchison award winning chippy in Helston high street near the VW and Peugeot garage.
