Any Firearms Owners Here ?

No worries Hairydavey, i understand how important it is to be crystal clear about these things. :)

that bushmaster sounds ridiculous though, especially because you could probably import a gastube an frontsight for less than £100. crazyness...

As an aside, is the lower in your AR full-auto capable?

I shoot when I can, usually when i'm in Canada or Israel.
Firearms are one of my greatest passions though, i find i am able to remember firearms knowledge ridiculously easily and in consummate detail.

I recently bought a book on Cartriges because i felt my knowledge in this area was somewhat lacking :D

BTW, your signature is too big, four lines of text maximum :)

<edit>
I did once assemble an entire full-auto-capable AR-15 rifle from it's component parts... that was very fun :D

I used to have a Ruger .223 for foxes, sold it on as it's grouping was appalling :p I keep meaning to replace it with something, possibly a Tikka T3 as they look great.

Still got a CZ 17 HMR though which is a great all rounder :)

I'm just off to my local gun club in a few mins for an hour's shooting. Great day and weather for outdoor range shooting.

.22 BRNO and Winchester U/L .357.

I do miss the days when I owned my S&W .357 & .44 magnums and all the other side-arms I used to own! It was so much more fun back then!

@ Von Smallhausen, only had a quick go on a T4. A gun shop near me has one for sale for about £300. Found it accurate and a big kick with the wood stock.

It is a solid and accurate rifle and a lot of gun for not a lot of money.

Never used an AI, is that an AW or AE? Heard about them being the dogs danglys and saw plenty of L96's when I was serving. Never shot one though :(

I think it is an AE. For me they are Rolls Royce of precision rifles with fantastic accuracy although at around 4 grand a pop they should be. You can comfortably part a mouse's hair at 700 metres with it if you have the ammo and scope to do it with.

That Brecker is a Southern Gun Company SSR-15 Speedmaster. Brecker is the place where the lower receiver was made as the lower is made by DPMS in the U.S. Used one once and it was very nice, the side cocking action was great in the prone. Bob Clarke who is quite literally Southern Gun Company as he builds all the rifles himself, is in Bodmin, a 15 min drive from me :)

I didn't know that. Thanks.

I also like the Stery Model 69 although I have no pics of it.

Accuracy International .308 / 7.62mm
Love the stock on the Accuracy international. A mate of mine who serves in the irish guards uses one chambered in .338 lapua magnum. He says it's very comfortable to shoot with. And a highly effective rifle for long range sniping.

*first venture into this thread*

I have no experience with guns except for BB pistols :D

I have always been interested in target shooting however but I had another question...

Those of you that had handguns, what did you have to do when they were banned?
Did you have to just hand them over to the Police? If so did you get any compensation for having to do that (scrap value?) or were they just gone?

WJ Jeffery side by side and a Beretta Diamond Pigeon.

Kept by a mate due to license issues.

Lanber Sporting Deluxe 12g
Franchi Raptor Semi 12g

Not fired them in around 12 months though due to work and family commitments (still looked after and in perfect condition though).

Here are some pics of shoots.

No 5 Enfield jungle carbine .303. The rifle to the right is a Siega version of the AK 47. To the left is a Winchester .308 that has a difficult bolt action and the wooden stock rifle is a Parker Hale T4 7.62mm which is a pleasure to shoot. It was a contender for sniper rifle trials in the British Army some years back I am told.

Becker .223 / 5.56mm. It is version of the M16 rifle adapted to comply with UK firearms legislation.

Day of the Jackal, get in there son :D

People were legally required to hand them in for destruction.

Some people got compensated a fraction of their worth, some didn't get anything. :(
