Operation Flashpoint Red River (Digital download only on PC 22/04/11)

since they dont need to worry about upsetting the retailers this better be a lot cheaper than 29.99 on steam

This.

£19.99 Maximum. Any more and they are ripping us off.

Not that I will be purchasing the steaming pile of **** anyway.

You couldn't pay me retail price to play it.
I bought the previous game, it arrived late so I downloaded a copy, was so disappointed I never opened my real box, it's still sealed in it's plastic wrap.

Will not be getting this. Even though Arma 2 is completely unpolished I would still rather play it than this series that codemaster have ruined.

It's very much like what happened with Championship Manager. The developers left to make a new game (ArmA) whilst the publisher still had the rights to the series.

And what Ubisoft did to the Rainbow Six franchise. After Raven Shield, it went sharply downhill.

Its available to order @ retail in the UK now £29.99 is pre-order price then it goes back up to £34.99. Its on Steam as well now but not sure what the price is though but think digital is always £34.99. I know about the negative history of this series but never played any of them before but what I have seen & heard about this game I think it will be a pretty solid Co-Op & SP based squad shooter which looks quite nice on PC & has some large environments.

So I will take a chance on it!

Doesnt seem to be much interest in this game I see :(

Does anyone know if the game is just co-op i.e 4 man sort of stuff? & I wonder why they took the multiplayer aspect away if thats the case?

cause they failed miserably at the mp last time?

and more likely they don't want to invest in dedicated servers or cheat protection... like last time.

But seriously £34 for this failure?

Well you gotta give it to codemasters they're aiming high.

Its a shame really as the game looks pretty nice. I did play OPFDR and quite liked it. Multiplayer was a bit naff like.

Ah well doesnt look like I will get it then :(

It has a SP campaign & up to 4 player Co-Op. I understand the last game was poor maybe that's why it has less interest this time but I am taking a chance as it looks really good on PC & the environments of each level are pretty large. I read a lot of stuff about this on the official forums & saw what the devs had to say so I think this game will be a lot better than the last one. The Steam version launches on the 20th April (retail is the next day but I expect them to ship (today or tomorrow) US does not get until 26th April on PC (Console version are delayed in the US until 7th June due to Codemasters changing their distributors).

Just go here for more info there are a few videos showing gameplay & PC gamers in Germany got the game last Friday apparently & say its pretty good.

Codemasters took a bunch of UK gamers to an event a few weeks ago & no-one had anything bad to say about this game (could be PR BS though). I could be massively wrong obviously but everything I have read/seen to date tells me this could be a decent game & it looks pretty good especially on PC!
