Best SSD for OS + 1 or 2 applications for under £80?

As title suggests, its my birthday soon so im gonna treat myself :P

Im lookin for fastest read speed possible as well, the make apps and OS loads insanely fast, im an impatient bugger XD

My motherboard is the crosshair III formula 790FX can't remember speed of memory controller, would getting a C300 be pointless? would my motherboard bottleneck its transfer speeds?

as my main drive (OS) - will even the slowest ssd make a massive performance difference?

If you've got a sata 6 controller on that mobo, then, either C300, C400,Elmcrest 510 or Vertex 3 would be great. Otherwise, get either the Vertex 2, C300 or Intel X25M. The difference compared to a mechanical hard drive is night and day.:D

Any SSD wil be a big speed increase, for your price range look at this week only deals...
 
I just grabbed an 60Gb Agility from this week's offers, seemed a good deal to me; relatively old now, but as pointed out by others pretty much any SSD is a decent performance boost. Remember that with some of the older drives (and some of the new ones!) you might have to grab a 2.5 -> 3.5 bay adapter, which adds a few pounds to the cost.
