Completed all of stages 1-3, got a few As and one bandage. Thankfully once I got to stage 4 all I had to do was die a few times, by then I was well practiced.

SMB is easy to complete with a keyboard.
Okay maybe not easy, but it's certainly not that difficult, I just rebound the control keys to WASD and it got 50x easier. I'm right handed but I can't use my right hand to move in games, lefty takes care of that.

I've been playing it with my PS2 pad, works pretty well to be honest.

Going to invest in a 360 pad soon

Nah. I just use my PS2 controller for my emulators

I would advise you invest in a PS3 pad rather than an xbox one, as you can use the PS3 one with windows rather easily, over bluetooth and USB. The software you use for it has an option for you to "emulate" an xbox 360 controller meaning your PS3 pad will appear to windows as a 360 pad, and therefore work with all the games that have native 360 pad support. On top of that, you've got a pad with the same layout as your PS2 pad for all your emulators.

The person Kylew responded to is already familiar with ps2 pads though, so the ps3 argument holds more weight.

For most windows games you're probably better of with an xbox360 pad but for "things that we're not allowed to talk about any more" a PS2 pad will win out most of the time due to it's far superior dpad.

You have no idea, to be frank.

Windows since Vista has completely native 360 pad support, you don't even need drivers, and there's a ton of games that even support force feedback mode for the 360 pad. Even the later HL2 games come with support for the 360 controller that you simply will not get with the PS3 controller.

You don't even need an emulator or a hotkey program or such. The PS3 pad isn't even ergonomically superior, it's much worse!

Terrible advice, if you had any sense you would take it back so that others are not fooled into doing the wrong thing and potentially wasting their money and time.

OP updated again, seems like we're looking at an 8am unlock. Though it could be slightly earlier, not that it matters, I'm sure 8am will be good for most people.
