New Ford Focus

I really like Ford but this new focus doesn't do it for me. The exterior is bland, and the interior is the opposite - way too overstyled, looks tacky. Also, over 20 buttons on the steering wheel is too many!

The price does seem high, but to get a true comparison you need to compare it to the cost of a similar spec Golf, A3 or 1 Series.

Just spec'd an A3 2.0 TDI S-line 6 speed

With parallel parking assist and metallic paint, 18 inch wheels and privacy glass and all the gadgets

Comes to £26,200 RRP
£26,845 OTR

So price is very similar.

My bad, I thought the current ST was a 3 door only.

Naw, it comes in both but personally I always try for 4 or 5 doors if I can.

I absolutely hate people scrambling over seats etc. The only exception to this would be if it was a car that only seated two. :p

Yeah 5 door is useful, I like 5 doors like the guilietta where the rear door handles are 'hidden' to give the car a perception of a 3 door. Looks really clean IMO.

Since when did anyone pay list price for a Ford? Even for a new model, you'd be able to negotiate a substantial amount off that figure I'd imagine.

I certainly wouldn't spec the car with the "driver assistance pack", £750 so you can be told when you leave a lane or are in front of a road sign? Cool gadgets perhaps but not something you would seriously spend money on.

I'm not surprised how much it comes to anyhow, you've picked the top of the range car with the new 163ps diesel engine.

26k buys a one year old S3! Never mind comparing to an A3 or a Golf.

I know this is comparing new for old, but 26k is a staggering amount of cash for a focus.
Shock as second-hand powerful, petrol hatchback is the same price as a brand new, list price diesel

Well there you go. The Golf GTD is about the same.

I thought this was the next Focus?

????

That one in OP looks a darn sight better than this though, looks like the same rear end but they've got rid of the fake AM esque front.

I prefer that. Also looks like an Aston Martin with the grill.

I'm getting one as a motability car so will provide some feedback when I've had it for a while.

£26k for a Kia Cee'd look-a-like?

This car is going to be relative sales disaster for Ford - good car that's overpriced for the target market and looks like crap.

Think its got some excellent technology features but doesnt look that nice.
ST looks really bad! grill is far to big.

Also think they have decent range of engines, sure they have a 180bhp model and at the other end one that is good on fuel.
