Yay - New car collected

Looks nice. I like the colour - I had a 57 plate race blue vRS and it seemed to attract the wrong sort of attention at times.

I didn't find the seats very comfortable in mine - are the facelift seats any different? I also got complaints about the rear seats being rock hard. I notice you've gone for the full leather - is it just the covers that change or are the seats themselves any different?

I've heard some comments the newer engine doesn't go as well as the previous 2.0T, but is a bit more economical. I'd be interested to see what you think on that score.

I've come from a 56 plate Octy and I'll be honest and say that I didn't find the seats that uncomfortable - I've been on many a long drive and I haven't ached.
The facelift seats do feel slightly different, it feels like there is a little more support in them.
I'm pretty sure that the leather and half-leather options give you exactly the same seats, just more leather on the leather option :)
I've found the back seats firm but certainly not uncomfortable.

From what I've been told the newer 2.0T is a much more refined engine.
Many people have been saying that it maps better than the older one too.
So far I've found it very responsive and smooth.
Not sure about economy as I'm still on my first tank of fuel.

Thought it was a BMW in the fist picture. Scrolled down and was confused :p

Yay! I test drove a MkII vRS the other day - like lordrobs here I'm also looking to move from MkI for MkII. Feels so much more confidence inspiring than my MkI.

I like the white colour but I have to remind myself how it's only slightly better than a black car for looking awful after 5mins. Think I'll end up with blue though, only MkII grey ones I've seen have been diesels.

As an aside that special edition diesel MkII looks like a great interior but those alloys, erk!

Yeah they messed up with the alloys on the special edition, easily solved though :)

Just went to the dealers to buy a throttle body gasket and was having a poke around the mk2 and mk2.5 vRS's. Both very nice.

Nice car.

You had a 56 plate one though, what does this 11 plate on offer aside from a bit of a facelift?
I do hope you didn't buy exactly the same car just newer!

More or less.
Mine was pre-option pack.
So the new car has over the old:

Facelift
Newer FSI Engine
18" Wheels
Rear Electric Windows
Jumbo Storage Box/Armrest
Dual Zone Climatronic AC

Then the options I didn't have in my old car:

Full Leather
Heated Seats
Xenons
Rear Parking Sensors

My old one was also a manual petrol hatchback - so I guess yes, I have bought a newer version of the car I had.
Why?
Because I've been very happy with the vRS, loved the changes and with the "VAT Free" (yer I know, I still paid vat, it was just a discount) it was a good deal.

I think I asked in the last thread whether you'd divulge how much you paid for the car in the end: base RRP price first, and then options on top?

Did you map your old vRS? Will you map this one? :p

I like the wheels.

I didn't map my old vRS, but oh so tempted to do this one.
The newer engine apparently maps even better and the results, even just a Stage 1 are supposed to be quite impressive.
I just fear about the warranty situation - I know they need to prove the map caused any fault, but still hassle.

I hate talking prices on here, not because I'm particularly worried about how much I paid - I knew my budget and stuck to it.
It's just it normally ends up with being told your an idiot - and you never like to hear that :)

My total cost, all in, including everything was £20k.
I've done a quick addition of all of the options:

Metallic Paint
Rear Parking Sensors
Auto-Dim Mirror
Xenons
Leather Interior
Heated Seats
Sat-Nav & Maxi-Dot
Spare Wheel

So around £3800 of options.

The biggest one being £1383.33 for the Sat-Nav and Maxi-Dot.
Many will feel that was far too expensive, especially as "second hand" RNS510's appear on EBay for around £500.
My issue being nobody knows where these units are coming from (most come with a very dodgy looking code card) and I liked the idea of having a 3yr warranty on that too.

Personally I think that represents a good buy at £20k brand new... but then I am a fully signed up member of the Skoda Fan Boy club :p

Brand New Car Vs Used Car cost comparisons aside, I don't think you've done badly there for £20k. I know I'm starting to get old because I keep seeing new car prices and thinking they're extortionate.

In Sytners the other day, they were proudly displaying an E92 320d M Sport OTR @ £35k, and it didn't even have idrive!

Heh, I did the throttle body clean last year, seemed to liven it up a bit :)

I'm looking for a MkII with parking sensors - they appear to be few and far between. Did the MkII get the full leather option too do we know?

Full leather was an option on the Mk2.
But I don't know many people taking it - so a bit of a rarity.
Unless you find one of the Limited Editions - sold to clear out the pre-facelift stock and came with full leather as standard.

Rear parking sensors again an option, but more people took them.

Damnit now I want to look for full leather too!
