Hi,

I am near the point of ordering some goods, if anyone can think of something I have not thought of / compatibility then please add any comments.

Relevant spec listed :

Q6600 @ 3.4
Gigabyte X48T-DQ6
Enermax Galaxy 1kw psu

About to order :

I'm still not wondering whether to get a Hybrid or not, and I also have been thinking about the 2gb 560 / SOC 1gb 560 / 570's. It's very different when it's your own decision, the agony of choice!

ofcourse it will verbatim are the best disk on the market for burning, FACT.

The chap on the phone said that these would be fine. I understand Verbatim are supposed to be very good.

I just noticed that my motherboard has the SATA 3gb/s connectors, not the 6gb/s that some SSD's list. I obviously assume that, like with SATA3, you are restricted to the choice with a third gen mobo like mine?

SATA 3 (6Gb/s) is backwards compatible with SATA 2 (3Gb/s) so a SATA 3 drive will work in a SATA 2 port.

So, just to clarify, I am not restricted in my selection? For example, I can choose a SATA 2 SSD which has a 6gb/s connector on my 3gb/s SATA 2 mobo?

I just need to be sure before ordering, would hate to make any basic errors.

There's no such thing as SATA 2 with a 6Gb/s connector.

SATA 2 is 3Gb/s.

SATA 3 is 6Gb/s.

You can buy a SATA 3, 6Gb/s SSD and it will work in your SATA 2 ports.

The ssd you chose is a sata 3gb anyway so not to worry. I'm sure the hybrid drives are for laptops aren't they?

I don't think they are just used in laptops.
