Anglian Windows sales scum

I had one of these ****ing idiots from a solar panel installer.
When we said no he started on the personal insults..

That was it.
Grabbed his solar panel, opened the door and said get out before I throw you out.
**** me did I see red that night. Mother was like "no need to be like that"

had the same with kitchens direct, yep £8k for a smallish kitchen, guy would leave so i picked up his door samples and threw em out in the road lol he ran after them

Somebody did this to my mum, 65 year old woman who'd lost my dad about a year previously. Was for a fitted kitchen, he gave her a price including units, fridge / freezer cooker etc. She said she wanted to shop around, and he got really arsey and threatening.

Now my mum is from East London originally, she might be a small old thing but she'll stand her ground, she told him to do one, he still persisted then started on the insults how 'she didnt look like she could afford one of his kitchens' etc.

When she phoned me I hit the roof, went round the showroom and demanded to speak to him. Luckily for the both of us he was out that day, so I left a 'polite' message with the receptionist there, who was actually really nice and helped calm me down, but if I'd have seen him I think I would have swung for him.

If salesman give you one price and then start doing deals kick them out of the door.
We did our double glazing in 3 stages - front, back and patio door but scoured the papers & friends for the average prices per door/window.
We then rang up several double glazing companies and told them what we wanted and how much we were going to pay and not a penny more and all of them came in with the price (that was when windows were £200 each and doors were £250 each).
We did exactly the same thing when we wanted a kitchen

I have the same problem with my fitted wardrobes, I need to order one which is 3m wide and the other at 3.6.

I think sharps sharted at around 18k and they are now down to 8k which is still way too much.

I will probably just go with nolte in the end as they seem quite good and are much cheaper.

Sharps were amazing for me.
Started at £8k for my room with a fully fitted wardrobe, a desk and something at the bottom of the stairs. Got it down to £7.4k and two weeks later a single guy turns up to our door and says he's doing all our stuff. i ask where the other guys are and he says its jusy me. I PMSL!!
3 days later, All the work is completed to amazing standards. Desk supports my TJ07 comfortabely and monitor etc. Sharps were an amazing experience. They cleared all their **** up when they were done aswell.

You pay for the quality.

To be honest I think most glazing companies are the same with the 'sign now' deals.

I asked Everest and a recommended local company to come and give quotes. Everest started off at 22k for 10 windows and 2 doors, then after all the 'discounts' came down too around 12k. The local company came in around 10k, but offered a buy now, pay later deal.

I told both salesman I was getting quotes from the other and it turned out they knew eachother and used to work together. You can guess what they said about eachother.

Anyway, both did the 'sign now for the best deal' routine. I told both there was no way as I wanted to think about it. Local guy didn't look like he was going to leave and tried to hang on, Everest guy said ok fine.

Local guy then continued to call me everyday for around 2 weeks. Everest guy called me back a couple of days later and offered to do the work for 10k+, last chance 'manager's deal' and open until midnight. Local guy continued to call, offered a slightly better deal (1k off I think) and that I could sign the paperwork but they wouldn't start work until I was ready or that I could cancel later. Yeah right.

In the end I was so appalled, I didn't go through with it. It wasn't like my windows were falling out anyway. Next year I may go through the process again but with different salesmen, at least now I know that if I refuse initially, they'll offer the 'deals' later on.

I was mostly annoyed by the 'this is our best price, buy now or you lose out', but then in a couple of days they'd call back and knock off a couple of grand straightaway.

Wow when the average window costs about £150 to manufacture

You just mentioned Sharps and quality... ;) You'd have got a much better price finding a local bespoke company and it would have been properly fitted rather than with Sharps who use standard size units and fill around them.

Things like this annoy me.

There's so many people who are scum out there, driven by corporate greed. Why do so many people try to screw you over, just want to take your money. It's actually a source of great sadness for me when I read stuff like this :(

Should do what Victor Meldrew did - invite him round to a mates house and get him to price up a massive job sounding dead excited and eager, going for all the extras and then write obscenities on the contract :D

£500 for a composite door? Does it have a toplight? Just plain glass I assume?

That is a pretty amazing price tbh, even if its just a plain door. They will be making almost nothing on it.

I ordered some new wardrobes from B&Q and paid for them to be fitted (I don't think they do this now). One chap turned up to fit them and he was running up and down stairs all day long. He had to come back for a second day to finish off and he told me he would'nt be doing this kind of work again. I certainly got my monies worth out of them.

Great when companies don't price the jobs properly!

better off buying yourself and getting it fitted by a local tradesman...

The salesman sounds like a complete **** but tbh what do you expect, i had a Hilarys guy come round to price up blinds for my old flat, the advert said some amazing price and the price he quoted was 5 times more..i just laughed at him and told him to jog on. You can understand why they do it, they sell it to you for £7500 and make £2000 on the deal.
