No meat today

I dont want to get into a whole religious flame war or anything, but isnt the no meat thing a purely Catholic thing? I'm prodestant and I dont know anyone in my family that does this.

To yourself and God.

Out of 365 days in the year, it's nice to give up something like food every so often. Dosen't hurt the body and keeps the mind focused.

Like I said, totally of my own volition. :)

Never fasted, had a banana and some chips from a chippy, that was selling loads of battered fish and 4 pints of lager :D

Why would I want to do that? Who is it going to benefit? Certainly not me.

It doesn't have to be a religious thing, Lent is about temptation and giving something up you like/eat/need nothing silly like giving up food and water you will be dead, like Jesus did, but we all know that never happened but its a mind thing, that is what religion is, to give people some sort of believe/hope from Catholics/Muslims/Buddhist all have similar things, Muslims are a lot stricter and can be more hostile, where Catholics are not as enforcing.

one of my mates used to invite us all over for meat day on Good Friday each year (he's an atheist), a little bit in bad taste but I still always went as he always did a wicked slow cook of some sort. yum yum

Ha, he has nothing to believe in, yet needs to voice against Catholics.

My girlfriend just texted me saying not to buy meat for dinner tonight as she can't eat it because it's Good Friday.
