just fried a brand new corsair 850w :(

haha that made me laugh. I did figure they can't have been very common place and there is no reason for them to be because you will always need the power connectors and the newer psu's don't even come with the spare 4pin anymore for the old mobos so there is no 4pin hanging about unwanted.

Dont STOP building PC's that just takes the fun out of life (by a little, developing erectile dysfunction that a big), why go to a shop spend £££'s and be hook up and then ready to go where's the fun in that!? just learn by experience and mistakes read before you do something save the doe of mistakes, keep them build going and upgrade as ness down the long road that is head of technology \m/

Have you actually seen his other two threads? :D

To quote Ace Ventura, "Down, Boba!" :D

... or "Easy, Chewie." if you're more of a Star Wars guy :D

I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.

*Goes looking for the other threads*

Well, my bad if PSU's like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-027-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat= are not considered "the norm" I thought Corsair were far from "obscure" and there have been 100's of reviews on the net covering that range and other well known brands that are fully modular. Fair enough if they have gone under all you guys radar but i didn't realise they were so obscure. To me they have been around a while and get mentioned in almost all PSU threads when people are asking for a good new PSU.
Sure there are lots of PSU's that are modular with some cables perma fixed but i'm amazed that some of you older members here find it hard to believe there are fully modular PSU's that are seen as the norm also. I'm on no high horse btw but it seems people who should know better and don't like to be shown up are.
Whatever your view is there is plenty of fully moduar PSU's (even if OCUK doesn't carry many)

only because £140 psu's aren't quite mainstream. Traditionally fully modular psu's have been very expensive. That's one reason people may not be aware of them. not that it really matters. you also need to be aware that post count means nothing - OcUK isnt just a hardware forum you know - there are a lot of people who never step foot inside any of the hardware forums on here.

Have a look about for PC power & cooling 910w PSU they are uber :)

£124 you cant beat the price for a quality single rail psu and the components going by the reviews are all ++++++++++++++ :)

Be aware they are fully wired so you'll have a mad octopus to tame;)
Tbh reading the reviews on Jonnyguru there isn't a great deal to choose between PSU's at this price range. More down to whether you want modular/wired and the number/type of connections you require.

I looked at the PCP&C 910W and it looks good but I prefer a fully modular PSU. I considered XFX Black PSU's but not so sure about them as a company. Also Corsair and Antec look worth trying...

The XFX black (and core) are great psu's and very well priced IMO. However XFX are not the best for RMA's on gpu's, in fact they stink when it comes to RMA's for cards. No idea how they are for psu's but I presume they have a similar work ethos. Still i'd probably buy one and risk it.
