anyone listen to arch enemy?

Never cared much for Arch Enemy but used their Manowar cover of Kill With Power as inspiration for my bands own cover :)

To be fair i've never properly listened to them, I think i'm just scared off by the fact I feel they are popular because the vocalist is a female.. hmmm

Rise of the tyrant is the funniest song. Love Anthems of Rebellion.
Didn't know the vocalist was a female till I watched a video on the net.

I like everything up to and including WOS, that song you posted is decent I'll check out the album.

It's off their new album, which is out on the 30th may i think? sounds very good

ha, this is why most of mates dont listen to it tbh.....oh and the fact it has screaming in it, which 'isn't musical' :(

yep, same here, very shocked when i found out....ha

EDIT:

watching the tokyo tour back in 08 (tyrants of the rising sun) I love some of the solo stuff that they play, the guitar solos are insane IMO

I listen to a few bands with female vocalists that do extreme vocals.. I suppose it is just because Arch Enemy are quite popular in the metal scene and people go on about how hot she is.. but thats to be expected.

Rubbish about extreme vox not being musical.. Music in itself is just noise.. I understand some people can't get into it but people who get up on their high horse claming its not musical really irritate me.

yeh exactly, that really ****es me off when they say that, and they go claiming that mainstream is 'real music' which I'm afraid I cannot agree with at all, even though I do appreciate *some* mainstream music yes everyone has their own taste, but people should learn to appreciate other music too IMO

Yeah, real music is just about everything, I don't know what they think real music means. Metal seems real to me, not fake :p.

I enjoy a bit of pop, but to stop it annoying me so much I just consider it a totally different thing to everything else. So it can co-exist without miffing me off... its mostly the fans of music that annoy me the most.

Not a big fan to be honest. I saw them a few years ago on the black crusade tour and they put on a good performance, but I just don't really like 'extreme' vocals

Agree with this really, I don't think they are good. But I'm very picky when it comes to music, especially metal. Check my last.fm profile (in sig) if you want to see my taste in metal.

Music you have in common includes Porcupine Tree, Gojira, Opeth, Agalloch and Meshuggah.

Win. Although I don't really lsiten to Meshuggah and Gorjira a whole lot, just tried to get into Gorjira by listening to lots at once.. didn't work.

My lfm link is the image on my sig.

Have to be in the right mood for Gojira personally, but they are a great band. Meshuggah on the other hand I can listen to any time, incredible music, one of a kind.

e : from your library, seems like you haven't discovered the djent side of metal yet :p

If you like female metal vocalists that sound like men, you may like **** The Facts. Also the music itself is a little more interesting from a technical standpoint.

I have but choose not to bother, it appears to be the next 'trend' moving on from the 'core' types.. I don't see how you can label a whole genre after one guitar technique... But i'm sure some of the bands are good in their own right, just I get feaful when things become a bit 'scene'.

:)
