Why does the english working man vote tory ???

We get shafted regardless it's just comforting to most that they are able to choose who shafts them. ;)

Labour would have done the exact same this term as the coalition, they are just telling us what we want to hear so we'll vote them next time.

I disagree, I actually think Ed the Fool would still be steering us into the pit of oblivion, he would have made cuts, but not enough, and would be speaking the same retoric as he is currently doing, they still don't grasp how much they messed things up, conceptually they don't blame themselves at all.

What do you mean by a working man? Do you have to earn over a certain level before you stop being a 'working man' and become a toff or something, or is it defined some other way?

It is a reference to gentlemen which belong to the working class. I didn't think my post was that cryptic surely...

Mainly because every time the Tories get in power they have to sort out a decimated Economy inherited from the previous Labour Government.

Also Labour are not the working man's party. The rich/poor gap soared since 1997. Labour are retards and did not one single good thing for this country apart from introducing the minimum wage.

Well you didn't say working class, you said 'working man', which covers an awful lot of the electorate. I don't see why people are still clinging to class devisions, they are utterly meaningless and damaging.

Im not from up north, i live there yes but im originally from europe, moved over here a few years ago.
It just makes me really curious as to why people vote for the tories.
A friend of mine is a journalist and he was talking to me about politics and i just noticed a pattern, everytime the tories are in power the normal working man gets hurt, thats why i cant understand people voting for them.

Normally Labour are in power then the Tories have to come and fix everything.

Were you in the country under the last Labour government? They were terrible. And it is only unionist harking back to the minors strike that think the Tories screw the poor. Labour like to give everyone loads of free money, hence people scrounging off the dole, the Tories like to try and make people work for their money, hence stupid/lazy people complaining

and signing us up for more nuclear power stations, maybe at some point we wont need to buy power form France.

It could be argued that her policies dragged the UK economy out of the pit that it was in and helped turn that economy into a far more powerful one but you could also argue that the social cost was high.

Love Mrs Thatcher or hate her, there is no denying that she was a formidable politician.

Labour have this flawed ideology that inflating the state sector to unsustainable levels is both good for the economy and the right thing to do. Unemployment did fall whilst they were in power because they were artificially creating state-sector jobs (many of which were bureaucratic and completely unnecessary - think Quangos) at the expense of running a deficit when they should have been running a surplus.

The fact Labour are still denying they made an enormous mistake specifically regarding the above leaves me feeling pretty terrified at the thought of them getting back in power.

I have never voted tory and never will.

They are destroying this country now, Armed forces, Teachers, Police all getting hit hard, where did all the non-jobs they were going to cut go?

Tories have actually done Labour a fav by getting in this time, when Labour get back in next vote they can spend our way out of debt like it should have been done in the first place.

Lol is that supposed 2 be an oxymoron? "Spend our way out of debt" thats the biggest mumbo jumbo ive ever heard!

Why?

Surely the 'poor' earning an average of for the sake of argument £20k and the rich earning an average of £100k is better than the 'poor' earning 15k and the rich earning £50k?

So the rich get a 100% pay rise and the poor 33%, so no not really, especially if during that time the cost of living goes up by 40%.

Now im not english so i cant comment on this question but it really really confuses me why the ordinary working person of england votes tory.
The torys are for the rich, everytime they are in power more pepole are made unemployed and general life standards go down, even a child knows this, so why does the english working man vote for these fools ?

lol

Read up on your political history and you will realise why, the real question is WHY do people vote labour other than the outdated class=vote of yore. Whenever Labour get in power they inherit a growing, if not thriving, economy and then proceed to destroy the work of others to look popular before being voted out again. They are like kids on a power trip. Its a real shocker how people never realise this but in a system which does not teach any sort of political history or knowledge to its young its no surprise.

But the richest will always get better payrises, surely it's easy to understand that? There is more scope for payrises when you run your own businesses, or when you are a high end member of staff as opposed to lower end work?

That's easy to answer.....the reason they mostly vote Tory is to get the country back on it's feet after the ravages of an outgoing Labour government which always leaves the country in the sh**....then the cycle continues on it's merry way!

Unfortunately for the Tories this time. they have been given the poisoned challice because whatever they do, they will lose out... the country is in such a mess that they will be blamed for possibly generations to come for the obvious cuts and measures they will have to take to get this country back on it's feet due to the last administration's rampant and wreckless overspending and borrowing.

But all the socialist voters can take heart - their time will come when once again their beloved socialist party can wreck the economy.
