***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

What do people do once they reach b-spec level 40 and have golded all the b-spec races? Continue playing b-spec to get the "Peak of their career" trophy or just move on??

I've given up on B-Spec now. I'll occasionally run the Tsukuba race in the Sunday Cup to get closer to the career peak trophy but I have to race it at least 200 times more before that happens. I've been automatically grinding a-spec now instead so that I can get the car collector trophy. Got about 800 unique cars now.

I have also bought a wheel to make the game a bit more fun and hopefully a few challenges a little easier although it certainly succeeds on the first part I'm absolutely terrible with it and can't get anywhere close to existing times let alone beat them.

Help me, for the love of all that is holy help me!

B-Spec historic race car series, Cote D'azure to be precise... I have the Toyota 7 race car from like the wind, but cannot win this race at all. Ive tried about 20 times :( Closest ive came is second but the Chaparell 2J is too quick to get past, and if i do manage to nip infront of him he retakes the lead pretty much instantly. Also my driver seems to crash a lot at the chicane at the end of the tunnel, and on the last corner, cant really tell him to slow down as theres always someone putting pressure on him so the bar wont move. Would a hot headed driver help?

Anyone with any advice is much appreciated :)

A cooler driver is better for that race. I won it in the Toyota 7 race car with a driver that had his temperament in the middle but his level was in the high 30's before he could manage it. Maybe tell him to decrease his pace when going through the tunnel if he crashes at the chicane and increase it again afterwards.

Google for settings to change the car too.

I did this first go and did the previous race in a Jag! I remained cool then towards the end I went full hot to over take the first driver that was still cool.

It gave me such an advantage to get ahead whilst the computer wasn't inbetween hot/cold so it didn't make a quick enough attempt to retake the lead.

The second race I just used settings for the Toyota 7 from some gran turismo website and did it first go.

Thanks guys. Ive changed the settings already, im using a slightly cool driver but hes only level 20 at the minute, i might just come back when he's higher. Totally forgot you could watch the other drivers cool/hot meter so ill keep an eye on the 2Js bar and pounce when hes all unprepared :)

Grr just spent ages doing the Nascar Bspec championship and it froze while presenting me with the trophy. Quit the game and lo and behold i havent even started the championship apparantly

Yey!! Million billion races and I'm finally at A-Spec Level 32. Sigh, now I can't get higher quickly as the PSN is down and the Ferrari Formula Challenge in Seasonal Events seemed to be giving out a decent chunk of XP :(

Thanks for all the Vettel challenge tips. Think I'll take the car on practise runs on the tracks and see how I fair. Very annoying to have an "off" and have to restart if you know what I mean?

Had a great day yesterday with the dfgt out for a few hours simply testing out numerous cars on the crazy awesome track cape ring.

Threw comfort softs on and tested 200sx, celica, nsx zero, supra 2.5tt and spoon teg r plus a few others.

Try going into Practice and selecting drift trial, using the Full Course rather than sections. Its EPIC fun :D

Ferrari challenge isn't worth the XP imo, it's more efficient to grind something like the Dream Car event (a fast car on Circuit = 40000 xp per run and takes around 3-6 minutes per go). The Ferrari F1 events give less xp than that so they're really only for the sake of racing rather than any real xp gain.

And really, while we have this xp bonus it seems to make sense to take advantage of it :) I wouldn't be surprised if the next patch removes the bonus again same as they did with the money bonus.

Yeah I was finding grinding too boring so the Ferrari Challenge at least let me race while I leveled up. The XP bar jumped a nice amount after each 15mins-ish race and was fun to do.

Bonus XP though? What's this? I thought it had been capped ages ago?

They introduced an xp bonus (something like a x3.3 modifier iirc) with the last major patch, same thing as they did with the major patch before that where they boosted the money you get from races. Only affects A-Spec xp as far as I can tell though. Normally you only get about 13k for the dream car events, hence why it's a good idea to grind for levels now while the bonus is still in effect.

You get 750k for doing the 2.5 hours or so of Indy 500 too, which is a good choice for grinding if you've got an X2010 as you can just get into the lead a bit then put a band around the right stick and just leave it running for a while unattended, only checking occasionally to make sure you haven't crashed or been lapped since you'll be grinding the track edges and therefore won't be as fast as normal. Obviously you'll need to check your fuel on occasion too but even if you run out you'll just crawl around at 40mph until you reach the pits anyway, it's not a game over situation :)

I realise there's a lot of excitement at the moment but I just wanted to take a moment to tell you guys that I now have less than 200 cars to go.
Sydney own [sic] 846 models in his mygranturismo.net garage. Before tuning, the value of his garage reaches 444,480,977 Cr, the total weight of 1,046,574 kg, and the cumulative power 261,386 BHP. By selling all his sellable models, he would earn 14,643,464 Cr.
