I can't decide whether to cancel my card or not. I have a second account I could use for the time being but what with this weekend being a bank holiday, I imagine I wouldn't get my new card until at least the end of next week and that's a real hassle considering pretty much all transactions in and out go through my PSN-linked bank account.
I can't for the life of me remember what password I used for PSN either, or how many other sites I might use the same password for
I'd be surprised if we don't hear about a class-action lawsuit at some point...
From what I have read (could be just idle rumour) but the reason you might not have had any email, is Sony could've lost ALL user information in the process!
Meaning they do not have your details to contact you!
Massive problem if true.
Just a shame I cannot change my password for PSN (gladly it's not the same password as my email address for my PSN account).
Surely not, if hackers deleted the PSN database then PSN has literally been destroyed and you wouldn't even have an account anymore! o_o
Sony said:If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, it is possible that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may also have been obtained.

they didnt and if they did there is something known as backups
As above, even if they did one would assume Sony have backups of everything.
If they are restoring it from a backup, no wonder it's taking ages, I'd hate to think how much data 77 million users generates.
But without the security code you can't really use that other info, or can you? And how could the hackers get all that other info and not the security code. Is it not stored or something?
doubt it would be that much tbh, its not as if they have our whole life stories on there, its just mainly names and addresses.

Trophey data, save games for PSN+ users, even if you take a conservative 5Mb per user times 77 million........![]()
A fine? Why would they get a fine?
