Cameron to Angela Eagle MP - 'Calm down dear'

But members of the public later wrote in to the BBC's Daily Politics to say they were not impressed with the PM's choice of language towards Shadow chief secretary to the Treasury Angela Eagle, leaving him facing calls to apologise.
I don't know who this members of the public character is, but I wish he'd be quiet and stop complaining about every little mildly entertaining outburst. Would be best if he just got banned from the internet tbh.

For people who say there was nothing wrong with this, imagine you were getting asked some pretty searching questions at work from a female colleague or client, would you respond with "Calm down dear"? Thought not.

Actually, yes I probably would, but that's because if I have a point to make I will not be shouted down by some swivel-eyed commie harridan just because my opinion happens to run contrary to their personal agenda.

Non-issue blown out of all proportion by a woeful Opposition party desperate to score some cheap political points.

If she was screeching like a harpy, then I certainly would.

As ever the sexism card gets rolled out when something dosen't go someones way, he wasn't discriminating her because she was a woman but because she was a ****.

Gotta love the misogyny on this forum at times :D

As much as the naked tribalism that would result in some opposing the Tories no matter what they did and jumping on any bandwagon to attack them no matter how flimsy?

As if the tory supporters would behave any differently if the roles were reversed.

Lets not try to kid anyone here, either party would try to get as much mileage as possible out insignificant things like this.

Somebody watching daytime TV rather than being out at work. 'nuff said!

Cameron used 'calm down dear' in PMQs in 2007 as well, to a male MP.

Mountain, molehill. Typical Labour.

Have Labour actually said anything about it? Is it not just those pesky 'members of the public'?

Probably the same lot that got the music turned down on Wonders of the Universe. How about every time they ruin something or blow something completely out of proportion by sending sternly worded emails we do the same, but to the opposite effect?

Nothing wrong with it. Though i'm sure the press will sensationalise it, some lemon will whine about it on national tv, some kitchen chained bints will cry about their lot in life and how cameron demeans them and he will have to apoligise :rolleyes:

Miwiband loved it though, he can't say anything about it how much he was laughing.

Balls is a chubby wee pie tbh. I mean look at him, my 5 year old niece can eat an icecream better than him;
