I'm having dirty thoughts about jumping to a 320d instead of the mythical 330i and 335i, but am curious as to what the centrepiece 320d can be turned into.

What sort of reliable remaps are available for the 320d?

Also, if chipping is possible, what sort of Insurance backlash would it create?

TIA

BMW do an official tuning package for the 320d. It takes it to about 200bhp and costs 1200 quid or so I think.

But it's still a noist 4 pot diesel, buy a proper one.

320i is much worse than the 320d in every respect... performance, mpg, resale etc.

Errr no. MPG I can agree on, but it's better in every other respect.
Actually, official figures say the i is only 3mpg down on the d, so there's no downside at all if that is true.

From memory it's also about 30-40bhp down and almost 2 seconds slower to 60. Don't quote me on that though.

You still think the Petrol is better?!?

I've been thinking about geting a 320D myself recently, for around 8K. Not fully looked into it yet so not sure if I will end up buying a shed!

I had my 320D remapped by Simon at E-Maps. Superb service and a great guy.

The car showed improved economy and superb mid range acceleration. It really flew. My insurance only went up by £50 per year. Highly recommended from me.

DMS & Evolve are the two companies with the best reputations, and both'll do the N47 2.0 177BHP to 215-220BHP & 300lb/ft.

Still goes dagdagdagdag though :(.
